I'm getting the BIOS System Configuration screen and at the very end

searching for Boot Record from IDE-0..OK
Error Loading operating system

What can I do to make it boot?

is this the same computer you had to reformat and reload windows?

i always recommend everyone should reset bios before reformatting?

if you reset the bios it will go to default settings, that should solve any boot problems im pretty sure but talk to an hp guy in case your settings are off.

not familur with hp so im not sure of the pins you use so just remove the flat round battery that looks like a coin. it is usually bottom right corner on the motherboard. gently pop it out from the tiny spring clip holding it in and wait about 5 minutes then put it back in. thats all you need to do to reset the bios.

whenever you are posting questions we need you to fill us in on what you have done up to the point you found a problem. have you reformated and reloaded windows? replaced any parts? that sort of info so we can catch up to what you did to get to this point.

this way we can give real advice instead of guessing about things.

No Keakar it is not the same PC
I guess it is the HD because is getting hot and I do not hear it running when I turn the system on!

I'm installing another HD I have here and install the OS on it.

that sounds like the motor in the drive may be stuck and not spinning.

it might also be the board because the southbridge chip on the motherboard is what runs the hard drive so if it goes out the drive wont work.

if the new drive acts screwy then its probably the board

sounds like somethings up with the drive if you cant hear it spinning and its running very hot. run seatools for dos, they have an acoustic test that'll stop your hdd and then restart it, so that you can hear if the spindle motor is working or not? also it'll give you the hdd's temp so that you can make sure that the temps are fine, check your cable connections, a loose cable could also be the problem, or a corrupt mbr if it cant load the os.

Can I ask you Guys where can I find more tutorial on PC fixing or trouble shooting?
like the one you posted Keakar "step by step troubleshooting guide"
