Event ID 500 (what exactly does gpu memory thrashing mean?)

System Name Hi!
Hi so I've just noticed an Event ID 500 in my Event Viewer. It says "Video memory resources are over-utilized and there is thrashing happening as a result. Reducing the number of open programs... etc etc". Seems it was logged last night at the time when I was playing Final Fantasy XV and testing Hairworks performance along with everything maxed and 150 - 200% resolution. I didn't have any other open programs and my fps was stable around 45.

What is gpu memory "thrashing"? How does it affect the gpu memory? Is it bad? Can it cause physical harm?

it basically means you ran out of VRAM memory and will page to your drive. No it wont cause physical harm.

It just means your card doesn't have enough video memory and now it's having to refer to main system memory and your storage drive

Time to upgrade to a 1080Ti brah. Come join the party at the 10*0 owners clubhouse - we got blackjack and hookers.
