My new EVGA GTX 970 SC seems to be causing some issues, when i boot the system hangs for like a solid 120 seconds in the bios logo screen and after its done with that it takes a while more to actually get into windows.
Also if i try to go into my bios it just puts me in a black screen which leads me to believe this is an issue either with the motherboard bios not playing nice with the card or the cards bios is causing this.
The card runs games just fine, the bios on my motherboard is the latest(although that still is fairly old by now), could this be a UEFI issue?

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

Tried pulling the sdd /HDD then boot from a USB drive. If the issue still happens try diff psu .
I assume you have already ran a memory test on each stix

The only thing i changed was the gpu, it all ran fine right up untill i swapped the gpus out.

Wait, what was your previous GPU?

Obvious question, but I have to ask: Did you completely uninstall the AMD drivers before removing the GPU and putting in the 970?

It honestly sounds like your system is trying to find the equipment for the previous drivers on startup.

I agree, trying a driver sweeper program and make sure nothing is sticking around causing problems is a good place to start.

Drivers can't cause a black screen in the BIOS settings though.

Be hard to prove that, as a system on a restart don't always clear every thing from the last boot. Only true way to is to from a shutdown.

For example with windows 10 my system restarts about 5-8s faster on a restart than a cold boot say.

I did clear my display driver with DDU.

then you should take the gpu to another rig to test

I would consider it a bios issue as well. My 970 works perfect on my old x58 board, so no reason for an issue with a newer mobo.

The issue is solved now, after going through the bios like a mad man and about a million restarts I found that it was in fact the cards UEFI that was causing this, when i set GPU boot to Legacy first the problems went away.
Really weird since UEFI worked perfectly on my 3 year old AMD card, any way thanks to every one who helped me.

Great! I:m glad you got it working....very strange issue.

Check with EVGA the bios on my 970 FTW has no problems with UEFI on my Z68 UD7. Gald to see your gaming again:clap:

The issue is the Bios needs an update to support the GtX9** series gpu's

Purchased a EVGA 960 sc for a friend 3 weeks ago on a Gigabyte Z77X UD3H ,PC switched on and then hangs on bios splash screen for 30 odd seconds then 2 long beeps 20 secs apart then black screen, no boot to hdd. Bios update solved issue as other forums also stated
Friend upgraded from GTX 460

So update bios , then should be able to switch back to UEFI boot if needed.
Seems like very similar issue.
