Windows has always liked opening new Windows Explorer windows in random places on my desktop.

Does anyone know of a Windows Explorer toolbar button (or system tray icon) that moves current window to certain position (that I set) on my display?

Not that I'm aware of, but free bump.
AFAIK it's just opening the window the last place you had it open / sized.
Same can’t say iv ever had that issue. Though I have noticed if there are any changes in monitor config (kvm) or resolution changes (playing games lower than native) iv seen the apps that “live” on those monitors affected as windows will try to “move” them so they remain visible.

it doesn’t affect me because I do neither of those things. My apps remember location just fine

My issue is that I always want my first window to be at the bottom-right. If I move a window there, then open a second window (which usually defaults to the top-left) and close the first window first (then the second), when I open a new window, it will not be back at the bottom-right, it will be where the last closed one was. It's annoying and will work the same on your end too.

I just did some experimenting and that is what happened with me here. Note I am using a multi-monitor setup. If I open an Explorer window, move it to a secondary monitor, close Explorer and open it again, it will open where I left the previous instance on the secondary monitor. Same experience with sizing. Even if I drag it so it appears half and half on 2 monitors, when I reopen, it is still half and half.

HOWEVER, one thing I did notice is if I drag the explorer window down, so it is part way off the bottom of a screen, then close it, when I open it again, the will have moved up enough to display the full open explorer window.

Now what I didn't experiment with is what would happen if I move/resize, then close, then reboot. This is only because I don't want to reboot right now. :D
