Anybody know how to extract the cutscenes out of GTA 4 ?

I know there is a movies folder with .bik files, not talking about that.

Not exactly what you're after, but you could just record em with something like Fraps.

yeppp have fraps running and press f9

If memory serves, there really isn't much for in-game videos (ehm, little to extract beyond the logos). All the cutscenes are rendered realtime so your only option is as suggested, record it.

Good idea but how do you get it record long enough ?.

with fraps you have tp purchase it to record for longer then like 10 secs

I've never tried this app in a game but it is free:
www.camstudio.org

Last time I used it, the free limit was 30 seconds and it had www.fraps.com stamped on the top, center of the video.

Fraps ahoy!!!

I guess it will have to be FRAPS then. Was hoping to avoid that, as I have to play the game again and record every cutscene for a big project.

Now this calls for a 1.5 TB dedicated HDD.

I'm sure they are all on youtube already. But yeah, welcome to the world of video recording. :ohwell: If you are strapped for space, just do a few at a time, encode them and delete the raw files.

youtube quality won't work.

ya will have to do that. But the size would still be big as I will encode them probably something lossless like ffv1 or huffyuv, so that the quality is not lost or degraded when encoding for the final output of the project.
