I've seen this issue before, but it was really rare. Now I've seen it 4 times this week, and I have no idea what's happening.

This is completely demented. I don't see how it could be the gpu overheating, it has never done that before, and the gpu temp is always around 50c even right after exiting the game. Plus the game is taking longer than ever to exit from, and sometimes it takes Steam with it and I have to end the process.

I would try verifying your game cache. In Steam, right-click on Team Fortress 2, click "Properties," click the Local Files tab and it's the 3rd button down.

That seems to be a very bizarre issue. It looks like either a corrupt installation or some memory problems. I see a bunch of no entrance symbols from player clip brushes as well as those floating masks. Does it only happen on koth_nucleus or other maps too?

It happens wherever it wants to, always after a 10 second freeze. I could try verifying the cache, when I'm back at the computer, but there's no way to deliberately trigger this, so unless the game exits out much faster or shows noticeable changes, I won't know if it fixed anything.

Hmm, okay. My TF2 used to hang up a lot for several seconds (usually when it wanted to play a sound or something for the first time since launching) but that problem was mitigated for the most part with frequent disk defrags using Auslogics disk defrag. Now it seems like the game runs very smooth within the last few months (the Hatless Update's dynamic model loading and memory management probably helped).

Is the pause accompanied by a black screen, just looping audio, or no audio?

wtf you talking about? that's how tf2 is supposed to look.

Huh? The skybox is never marked by crossed out circles, and the skybox isn't even that low on that map. I've never seen that mask before, nor are there floating particle effects like that in the game except for on unusual hats. Also, the health status icon is severely corrupted.

That's very much not how TF2 is supposed to look.

It freezes and loops audio.

that looks awesome, i wish my tf2 looked like that

No, you don't, because you can't see any text and all of the menus are broken.

I tried checking the cache and it still happened.

Have you tried a complete reinstall of the game yet?

Do you have any other games to test?

It's only TF2, no other Source games. Neither L4D, CSS and DoDS run the same as ever.

missing textures flooded with white

Verify integrity of game files.

I already did that. It happened again once, and the next time locked up the entire computer.

Now I'm trying turning off anti-aliasing, even though this computer should be more than capable of having it on.

I verified, defragmented, updated video drivers, nothing works. All that's left is completely reinstalling, and I doubt that's going to help. It'll probably do it within 10 seconds of joining a game to be spiteful.
