As you can see fallout does not like my computer. Newest nvidia drivers(8800 ultra), with patch 1.7. I can't play the game for anymore than an hour if im lucky, sometimes (like today) 5 minutes... the below happened. I'm thinking that my video may just be running too hot, but if anyone knows how to fix this, I'm all ears.

I've seen graphic problems on FO3 but nothing like that. Is the video card overclocked?

Nope, I have a slight OC on my processor but thats it.

Those look like artifacts to me. Did you check your temps on the card?

I'm on board with graphics artifacts, the fact that you say it happens after 5 minutes leads me to something overheating.

I would check temps on everything possible, and clean the dust out of all the fans and heatsinks. Make sure to get your power supply with some compressed air also, if the power supply is glogged with dust, it could be overheating also. Clean the whole computer good, I just mention the power supply because a lot of people forget about it when cleaning out the dust in their PC.

Also, make sure the fan on the card is spinning and at a good clip. If it is barely spinning, it is dying/dead.

I used gpu-z to see the temps during game play and it maxed out at 70 degrees. When I play other games such as Rainbow six V2 and crysis they run fine.

if its a torrent version then i think it could be a bad crack or something

those DO look like graphics artifacts, i remember that cpu can also cause shit like that if its not stable

Are you running the latest drivers and DX9?

like the guys sayd it are artifacts! soo it must be your gfx card memory overheating:(

Maybe run LINPACK for a while and make sure the CPU/RAM are stable?

If OCCT comes back good (an hour should be enough), I'd have to guess the video card is defective.

drop the videocards memory clocks, yes i know they are not overclocked, im saying underclock it a little bit :)

about 100mhz should do it

The first time I loaded Fallout 3 it said it wouldn't load because it was mising a dll. So I updated dx9 and it worked fine. So try that.
