I just got XP Pro 64-bit, and I decided to try out Far Cry. I got DX9.0c, Catalyst 6.5, Installed Far-Cry, and also installed the AMD 64-bit patch. Right when I start up, it freezes, and that's it. I don't know what to do. Thanks for the help,

This was supposed to be easy, I never have a prob playing FarCry or N4Speed, or any other game.

I think ima go back to XP Pro, not X64. I can barely get drivers for it.

Did you patch FarCry as well? That game can have tons of conflicts if its not up to date, I had a crashing problem when I changed video cards (which had up to date drivers)

So get all the patches, then get the 64 bit patch?

ya dude all patches then the x64 bit patch to patch the patches.

lol, to patch the patches...

Could be corrupted files when u downloaded it. Never know, might want to download again, and like the other guys said, make sure u have all the other patch...doh.

also: what you need to do to really make sure its working is to,
Install Far-Cry>>>>>Install 32-bit (Normal) Patches>>>>>Install 64-bit patch NOT content>>>>>Install Far Cry 64-bit Content

I had crappy performance tell I did it in that order.

Hope that helps

i guess u dont have to install the 64-bit patch for far cry under 64 bit windows due to the fact that it is 64 bit from scratch

that is correct, but the patch does not have the 64-bit content so you have to install the content after the patch as well.

Is there a big performance gain? Do any other games take advantage of 64bit processors?

Andy

this may sound harsh but why bother playing farcry anymore? the AI is wank in it, and you die in like 5 bullets anyway even with full armour :\
