Hey guys,
I believe I know that answer to this, but I want to just make sure I am right.
I have a choice between a few cards:

1. X1600 Pro - 256mb
2. 6800 - 256mb (the vanilla 6800)
3. x800 - 128mb

Which one would be the fastest since I can get them all within $10 of each other.
Thanks.

depends...what kind of X800 is it? X800GT < X1600, X800pro = X1600 (X1600 lower FPS, but SM3), X800XT/XL/XT PE > X1600, X800GTO > X1600, modded X800GTO >>> X1600 . Happy Gaming!

Its a vanilla x800 by MSI. I doubt it is as good as the x1600 pro since it only has 128 memory. I figured the 6800 vanilla was the best since it is close to the x1600xt.

I'd use the Geforce 6800 since it has a 256-bit bus unlike the X1600, but Sm3.0,too. Perhaps you can unlock it to 16 pipes.

all three cards have 12 pipes, so it's really left to memory, i'd say out of the three the 6800 vanilla is the bes, 256mb of memory and still 256-bit plus probably having the best overclocking results.

agree agree agree.

Wait a minute, in your system specs, it says that you have a 7800GT. Do you need this for another comp. or something else?

I agree with that as well...Just wanted to make sure. Of course as I looked around another question came up. I was looking around and saw some interesting findings on the 6800. Apparently they came out with the 6800XT, which is a cut down version of the 6800 (less pipelines). But the 6600GT scored close to equal with the 6800. So why did they even bother with this card then?

Yea I currently am receiving the parts for rig #2 (please see signature). So I figured I would get a $100 card and then wait for direct X10 to come and then get a kick ass card for this system

You know what, before I bought my X800GTO2, that was exactly my question; "Which one of those 3". Now at the same price range, we had X1600XT, 6800GS and X800GTO2. Well, X800GTO2 won my vote hands down!

1st, you got overclockability, second, you got memory bandwidth, 3rd, you got pixel pipelines. X800GTO2 has all of those + features + image quality. Of course no PS/VS 3.0. But that's not a pivoting decision factor to me. Oh and WHY 128mb X800? Really, I didn't know that existed?....

All of these cards are under the $100 mark currently. MSI has their X800 128mb card for $80 on newegg.com.
