Faulty i7 920?

Now, I'm just worried that what if it runs memtest without failing? Is failing once conclusive that RAM is faulty?

Don't worry about that yet. You need to rule everything out one by one, and the most likely culprit is memory. See the last 2 posts regarding memtest86+

Alright. I'll run it off of DOS. I'm not being able to run off of a USB stick though. It won't get detected as bootable.

Burn it to a cd and run it.

Yeah..will have to do that. Hopefully I have a blank cd

I think MemTest can be booted off a USB drive as well. (Oh I see you tried that and it did not work, strange, it should work fine like that)

This is most certainly a memory issue as others have said. DON'T rely of the windows version of memtest either, it is junk for DDR3. Run Memtest86+ off a bootable drive. That will give you errors within a couple of passes, if there is anything wrong with the sticks. Also, you should test each stick independently.

Remember this part, more than 1 pass is needed!

Yeah. I used the USB installer on their site but it wont detect. I booted from the same drive to flash BIOS and it worked fine.

Can't seem to find a blank CD...sigh. I have a ton of blank DVDs though.

Bootable DVD then? I've never tried it, but why not? :D

the iso is for a CD only.

Ok, got it running from a USB disk. I'll let it run for an hour. Is that adequate?

So, memtest has finished 2 passes so far, and found no errors. I'll let it run overnight.

But should the RAM not return any errors, what should I do?
