This will also be my first time building a computer myself, will it be a hard task for someone with no experience, or is it fairly easy to learn?

Again, any advice is very much appreaciated.

I'm an AMD guy, but I do know that the Q6600 is a favorite among many. Everything looks pretty good, except with the processing power that machine's gonna have, you may want to look into Vista Ultimate if you like eye candy. It's a really pretty interface, and if you use WinBubble (search these forums for it), you can tweak any version of Vista very nicely.

Having a forum like this is essential to your first build. I remember my first build. Completely self-taught from reading forums and articles, I went out and bought a great system, and unfortunately, tried to use the Windows XP disk that came with my old Dell to install it. Not knowing why it didn't work, I took everything back and paid a 15% restocking fee on all of it. If you encounter any problems in your build, or you have any questions, just hit us up on here, and you'll be good to go.

Also, this is the new heatsink king unless you go watercooling or better.

Build looks freaking sweet, very similar to my own with a couple tweaks for the better.

I also second that cooler, I wish I would have known about it before getting mine, although both will get the job done well. :rockout:

There are some things that I would change because of personal preference...but its a rocking build dude! Have fun with it and if you have any questions you can PM me if needed...been doing this a long time, most of us here have been :)

yeah go for it..u will be pleased no doubt ..i still would take something more original for teh case "rolleyes" ..like 2 of my close friends have antec ninehundred ..but its a good case so why not!

Well I picked the Antec because I've heard alot of good things about it, but if there might be something better, or a little nicer looking I wouldn't be opposed to getting a different case.

Any suggestions? :)

I got the Gigabyte 3D Mars. I'm pretty impressed with it so far. I've done a few minor mods to it. If you like the look, it's a great case. Bigger than the 900 for sure, but if you like the look, it's got a TON of room.

negatory friend the common misconception is computer building is extremely hard i was self taught when you have all the peices infront of you it all falls into place. this big thick 24 pin wire goins into the 24pin jack on the mobo its relatively easy...and when you get the parts just come on here if you get stuck we will be happy to help.

yeah..this was my first build....it went well...like solaris said everything fits into its own place....and the mobo guide will tell you where everything goes...

The software part of things is the hardest part! Especially when you reformat XP every 2 months and have to make that 6 minute phone call to Microsoft so you can activate your OS...

 6min so true.

Very nice dude, not my choice for case or board but rest is nice.

the case is to much for what it offers, and you ment the mobo ? look at pic 3 its the a Asus Maximus Formula with a sticker of P5E over it :p

but I would get the Asus Maximus Formula its just $20 more

For only about $20 more I can afford to upgrade to the Maximus, however I'm not seeing it on Newegg anymore. The only ones I see there are the Maximus Extreme...and an Open Box Maximus. Does this mean that they are just sold out? Or that they no longer sell it?

If they were sold out, it would be listed at the bottom as sold out.

Know what I would do? Get on with their tech support chat and ask. Or call them tomorrow.

Well I ordered all the parts last night, should hopefully be here by monday. Thanks for the advice guys! :)
