EDIT:

I will now be going for Paulieg's i7 combo (i7 920 C0 + ASRock Extreme x58 + Crucial 6gb kit), since it did not work out with shevanel for payment... payments has been sent to Paulieg already though

So want do you think of all this? will end up 875$ for me though -_- As always, shopping at DirectCanada.com, you think I should get a better case or that is fine?:

if you were in the states I would say yes based on warrantly for the extra loot to XFX. Check it locally and see if that card offers lifetime in CA.

one for a friend xD EDIT: warranty is also good in Canada

If I would like to get a 5850 instead (2x 6pin connectors right?) what PSU should I get?

Something like the Corsair 550VX or 620HX if you wan't modular. If you're planning to get a second 5850 later I recommend the same PSU I have or the 850TX ( I like Corsair PSUs). Also do you have someone around Montreal helping you build it?

edit: even if you get a 5770 and plan to OC that rig I recommend getting something a bit stronger than the 400cx.

I actually built comps for friends already :p

considering price, the Antec EarthWatts 650 at 70~75$ or the TX750 at 105$ look good...

Really? an i5 750 + 5770 OCed will need better than a Corsair 400cx?

I would personally take the next step up, especially if overclocking the CPU. HX520 or something similar.

I dont think so, but if the PSU degrades in 2-3 years time, then I think 400w might be pushing it.

Will the EA650 do OK with a 5850 OCed then?

Should run and have room to OC both the GPU and CPU.

if the powercolor 5770 1gb to xfx is worth 20$, is it worth it at 290$ instead of 170 for a Powercolor PCS+ 5850?

Johnnyguru gave that PSU a 9, so it should be good.

I believe the PCS+ is W1zzard's current GPU of choice if I read correctly.

I know he rated it 9.7 the pcs+ :D

Yea, Guru's review is why I am considering this alot

so with the upgraded components:

OH SHIT! I FORGOT THE CASE

any advice for the case?

Antec 300? something else?

oh btw, by paying so much, imana have to work my butt off during summer and have less time enjoying the rig :o

Case depends on what you want. Want side window? Big side fan? Bling? Those come down more to taste than anything else.

actually, bang/buck si the most important.... available at Directcanada, under 80$, and something that can cool my stuff OK... construction quality is nice too

side windows is only a small plus

Don't get the PCS+, get a cheaper reference design card so you have the voltage tweaking option.

How about a CM 690 II Advanced for a case. I know it's not under 80$, but at 89$ I think it would be a good buy.

The 2nd cheapest 5850 is at ~330$, which is 40$ more... so I think I'm stuck with the PCS+ lol... as for the CM690.... I'm looking for a more budget oriented case

Do you guys think there is a better case for the money than the Antec 300 for 55$?

That Lian-Li does look nice... people's opinion on that case vs antec 300?

I think I might take that Lian-Li

I have that case's big brother the K-62 and it's nice.

OP updated!!! I'm so excited! going x58!
