Hey guys, I'm still a bit of a noob when it comes to formatting (and computer maintenance in general), but I would like to know if formatting a secondary hard disk from windows could be risky (as in loosing any files on my primary). Does it involve any booting from the CD or anything like that or is it as simple as right click, manage, format?

Thanks

It is that simple. If it is in some way needed by the OS it wont let you format from windows. So it is safe.

Thanks for the fast answer.

So I just format it, leave it format and its ready to use?

Check the link out below. It's really quite simple when you follow the steps. Go down the page to the title that says "Formatting a Secondary Hard Drive". Best of luck!
