Hi all,

Bit of strange one i can't figure out.
I did a clean install of windows 10 this week (not due to any problem related to this post) and everything was fine.

Since building my rig back in february, i have i have been playing Warhammer Total War which has been running so great and with FPS reaching 250-400, i capped the frame rate at 150. This has remained incredibly stable with rarely dropping below 149fps with cpu around 69 -72 temps and even then no drop in fps.

I did a fresh windows install this week (unrelated to this issue in this thread) and have made sure all the drivers for my build are up to date.

Oddly i went to play WTW as usual and noticed now my FPS, although reaching high as before, are now jumping around all over the place from 65 FPS to 180. Even setting the cap at 150 again, the FPS is jumping around and not stable as before and dropping depending on load

My temps are fine (as before) and have experimented with power performance settings, nvidia control panel.

The issue is not so much it can't reach a very playable FPS as it can, but more so why is it now not sticking to my capped FPS and not stable all the time as was before?

I even did another windows fresh install a couple more times to see if this would detemine anything but seems not.

Specs:
Asus Z790 E Wifi 2
Intel 12900KS
Nvidia titan 3080ti
32gb RAM
4tb SSD 5tb HDD
1200w Seasonic PSU

You change drivers? What about game updates? Any windows updates?

Turn on vsync

I hope you mean 4TB SSD and not 4GB.

Temps change?

Since reinstalling windows 10, i made sure to download latest drivers for the hardware and also windows updates.

Yes that was a typo!

Temps are as before so can't think its a temps issue.

When i installed windows, i have been making sure all intel, nvidia drivers + windows updates are all up to date and they appear to be now but now thinking maybe some these drivers / updates have caused this issue potentially?

Yes i believe windows updates or a driver caused your issue, worst case is the gpu might be showing signs of problems

Run 3dmarks timespy and post your results it's a free download.

Should i just run the nomad steel benchmark? Never used this before.

Run Timespy.

Steel nomad is gpu only.
