I edited some of my Battlefield 3 fraps recordings and edited them using Sony Vegas(I'm still a newbie), created a montage and uploaded them to youtube in 720p.

I have done two videos now so far. But the thing is. the size of the rendered file is still big. first one is about 2.5 mins and its 700 MB, the second one is 3.5 mins and its about 1 GB.

my upload speed is too slow and I was able to upload it for like 4 Hours. :banghead:

anyway I could reduce it to at least below 500 MB without losing any detail? or losing just a very small amount, still capable of 720p.

Any fraps -> youtube uploaders here? What program/presets do you use?

oh and here is my video if you would like to watch it.

WinAVI will compress the video files for you after you have compiled them in Sony vegas. I usta do counter strike videos and I used it with not much quality loss. It would take a 400MB file down to around 10-20MB

You appear to be using uncompressed video, try rendering it with lower bit rate/ higher amount of allowed reference frames (although i'm not sure of how Sony Vegas renders things so that may be easier said then done)

or alternatively run the file through handbrake on the high profile preset if you want a high quality file with a low filesize

thanks for the tip guys, i used WinAVI and selected AVI 720p HD and converted the files.

3.90 GB became 49.8 MB with little to no loss of quality! What a relief
