Hi. I'm using ASRock Z77 Pro4 motherboard with latest realtek HD audio driver.

What happens is that my system displays front panel mic as plugged in, even though its not true. I tried previous driver version - nothing changed. When I plug in or out actual mic - it doesn't says anything about the process. However if I plug in or out headphones - it displays the message that this was detected. How do I make it recognize that there is no mic in front 3.5mm jack?

I tried to ask ASRock support about that, got email that they accepted request but there is no answer of any kind. I already asked them something before but never got actual answer, so I think I wont get it this time too...

You could check the jack and cables and see if you see anything wrong with them. Because it sounds like there could be something physical wrong with the audio jack.

I was thinking the jack was shorted as well. Only other thing is maybe the plug end got wired wrong accidentally at the factory for the HD Audio connection.
