Last year i replaced my drives with 2x4TB drives. This switch went together with moving windows 10 from 1909 to 2004 build. Since then I was unable to run few ac games, most of them being crashing on launch and only unity and origins are stuck on splashscreen. At first i kinda ignored that and blamed 2004 build of windows 10 for that issue. Looking through logs in event viewer i noticed all crashing games give the same error: 0xc0000005 with faulting module name: ntdll.dll. I did all things recommended over internet related to that bug: clean boot, sfc, dism, chkdsk, tested ram with software, tested ram in various configurations, updated and installed older versions of gpu driver.... and many, many more. One of things i did was to grab 1TB hdd lying around and just for test install windows 10 20h2 on it. After installation i checked these games and all were working fine, no crash on launch. Happy with that result i started installation of 20h2 build on my main 4TB drive. I was surprised when after installation i was again facing this horrible 0xc0000005 crash.

Sat calmly, started thinking and analyzing steps i did so far and came to conclusion and thought to myself: "no f....n' way, it can't be this...". I grabbed recently purchased 128GB usb drive, plugged it in, moved onto it ac brotherhood, made uplay to detect its files, clicked play and... game launched without crash! That's one of the biggest WTFs of my life. Started testing all other AC games one after another and all of them suddenly were working off 128GB usb drive.

Conclusion: install ac games or games in general (i have no idea if there are other games except ac series with this problem) on partitions which are up to 1TB in size, especially if you are facing 0xc0000005 crash error.

For test i shrank my partition to 1.45TB (i can't go lower on this partition as i have 1.4TB of data on it) and crash was still happening. Here is a list of ac games affected by this problem and symptoms they give:
AC2 - crash, somehow without log in event viewer.
AC Brotherhood - crash.
AC Revelations - crash.
AC 3 - crash.
AC 3 Remaster - crash.
AC 4 Black Flag - crash.
AC Unity - stuck on splash screen.
AC Rogue - crash.
AC Origins - stuck on splash screen.
All of these games run ok once they are moved to a partition under 1TB. All other ac games are launching fine. As i mentioned earlier i have no idea if this problem is isolated only to ac series or may be a wider issue, i haven't faced that problem in other games(,yet).
