Need some help as pulling my hair out with this .

I have had my GFWL account for quite a while, not a regular user.

A day or so ago when I went to have a play on GTA IV it would not login to the account. All I get is a nonsense message.

I can login to Xbox live (I don't own one) and Windows Live via browser in OS. I then uninstalled GFWL via control panel in windows 7, I then reinstalled it and still get the issue.

Then I started routing around in AppData\Local\Microsoft\GFWLive\ and found a file (GFWLClient01.log), latest error (all are the same in log from past attempts) it has this in it:-

2016-09-27T13:17:19 Error SignIn Failed to sign in to live id with 0x80048821. {Exception: {Type: Microsoft.GamesForWindows.XLiveServices.LiveIdWrapper.IDCRLException} {Message: Authentication failed.} {Source: XLiveServices} {Stack Trace: at Microsoft.GamesForWindows.XLiveServices.LiveId.Authenticate() at Microsoft.GamesForWindows.XLiveServices.LiveId.Authenticate(String memberName, SecureString password) at Microsoft.GamesForWindows.XLiveServices.LocalGamer.SignIn(SigninData signinData)} {Target Site: Boolean Authenticate()} {IDCRL Error Message: IDCRL Exception In Method: Authenticate IDCRL ErrorCode : 80048821}}

I tried using the support chat feature on XBox live site and I can't chat to staff as my name is not filtering through from Windows live account (no way to set on support chat page or XBox live site).

Dunno if GFWL is shutdown but I defo know it has worked few weeks back.

Well I've got me name on xbox live support chat page now, had to setup billing information in windows live, in queue for support showing 4min waiting time, will see what support does .

*** edit ***

After 10 mins of support chat no resolution found, been told by xbox live support site:-

i) get access to xbox and logging in to my account that will sort out issue ().
ii) contact windows support as on PC/windows.

Well fixed it  , GTA IV / Lost Planet / Games For Windows Live Marketplace app now working :rockout: .

So if you have this in game and then were to check xbox live and windows live via browser and you can login but in Games For Windows Live Marketplace application you can't login in like this ...

Then the fix is install Windows Live Sign-in Assistant ....

Now to apply some ...

I just mentioned this issue in another thread. Even if you do get it working and are able to log in, your games/apps are gone. Been over a year for me and Microsoft support has been the opposite of helpful.

I've got no GFWL marketplace apps, never bought them :) .

When I wasn't able to login into the GFWL account so:-

i) GTA IV (Steam edition), to use autosaves.
ii) Lost Planet - Extreme condition colonies (ie 1st game, DVD Edition), does not even play if you can't login to GFWL.

I was just using the GFWL marketplace app to see if issue was limited to in game GFWL client.

Yeah MS support sucked, at one point I was getting "contact software author".

I said well the games launch, so it's not the software authors fault, but I just can't login to the in game GFWL client. I did not know if I should laugh or cry when the support person came out with perhaps login to an xbox using your details as that may resolve "whatever" is up with my account.
