My PC runs Folding@Home 24/7 and it's also a media server for my home.
I'm waiting for a Kingston DC500M 480GB enterprise SSD that's going to replace my present WD 1TB Gold C:\ drive.
I know that consumer grade SSDs do garbage collection when the PC is idle, but they're also rated for just 8 hours a day of use.
Even when idle and not running F@H, Windows 10 Resource Monitor shows my C:\ drive always writing and reading.. MFT, log files, pagefile, font cache, antivirus logs, etc. My C:\ drive never spins down.
How do enterprise SSDs deal with garbage collection when they run 24/7 and they're never idle?
EDIT: grammar
