Which gpu would be better one with GDDR3 and 256MB memory OR a older type, GDDR2 with 512MB of memory....

What resolutions will you be wanting to run @? And what gfx card are you wanting?

;)

a x1600pro with older GDDR2 OR a x800GTO with GDDR3 OR a 6800XT also with GDDR3 the two with GDDR3 only have 256MB of memory, bu the x1600pro has 512MB......

as for resolution.......the best quality

Go with the X800gto or the 6800 what ever you can afford, your bottleneck will be your CPU regardless.

Dont get X1600Pro, they are pretty pants even with all that memory, the memory wont all be used to best advantage @ lower resolutions which it will need to run @ because they dont have alot of balls to do anything hard!

I would go for the X800GTO personally, mainly because its 256-bit memory interface and they clock well!

Not keen on nvidia at all!

Ati fan boy ere ;)

p.s - gddr3 runs faster than gddr2 and also cooler, so in theory it will clock better!

the GTO has a slower clore clock than the GT, with that effect anyting or are the GTO meant for more overclocking ability

The 6800XT is 128-bit, the GTO is 256-bit! They have different architecture so I wouldn't worry about the core difference in speed, as the R480 core clocks lovely, even if its the R423/430 it will clock well with good cooling!

;)

I would go for the x800gto as well. Much better card.

As for the oc capability, hope for an R480 core. They oc really well.
R430 core's don't have much oc potential.

i was refering to the x800GT vs. the x800GTO................

Looks like the GT is a downgraded GTO.

The GT only has 8 pixel pipes, whereas the GTO has 12 pixel pipes that can usually be BIOS flashed to 16 pixel pipes.
