Getting Low Frame Rates For Counter Strike Source

What settings exactly are you running it on? Like shadows, texture, AA, AF... that could be helpful. You have a system similar to mine. I've just turned down AA and AF a bit, and I'm at around 60. You may wanna do the same thing, because the differences don't hurt gameplay that much at all.

If you're wanting to upgrade.. since you have 939 like me, you're pretty limited to what you can get. If you were really fps hungry, you could go w/ a new C2D system. But, that isn't practical, so a good X2 like that 4400+ will do you nicely. You probably know about the new Source engine comin' out w/ multicore support, so that'll REALLY help you out later! But yea, your only bottleneck would be your CPU... which isn't that bad of a bottleneck really. The only other thing you could check out would be the difference w/ only your 2x1024 in dual channel, or 3 gigs total. That could be surprising... but your 7900GT KO is plenty to run CSS, so don't worry about it.

so a new processor like the AMD 4400+ X2 would help alot??

Well, right now Source is single threaded.. so until the new engine is released that supports multicore, not really. Yea, it'll help, but not as much as you want it to.

WOW i got an average of 130 when i took out 2 512 MB of ram and only had 2 1 gigs and its awesome.

I still think ill get another processor like the Amd 4400+ X2

this is mine from the bench test with everything turned up to max and the res @ 12 x 10.

There ya go! Good job! :toast: Yea, that 4400+ will help you out... go for it!

Yeah you were probably dropping speeds on your good ram. Now sell the old stuff in the For Sale forum!

And this is relevant to the thread ... how?

@ the OP: Source is pretty heavily dependant on your CPU + RAM. I think that if you buy the x2 4400+, you'll see a nice performance increase (probably 40-50 more FPS, which is what I experienced when I went from a single core P4 to a dual core Core2Duo). At least your low FPS issue is resolved for now... happy hunting :D

There we go, your 512MB sticks were screwing you up.

I wanted to know why im getting so low fps on my css at the video stress test about 23 fps. :(

Im thinkin about to upgrade either my video card 7900GT KO, or my processor AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (socket 939)

Which one??

Could you give me links for good items that arent outrageous in price??

PLEASE I WANT TO GET AT LEAST 60 FPS IF NOT HIGHER :(

I got a score on the 3dmark06 of 3898 (fastest score 6237/slowest score 2750)

On My Pcmark05 i got a score of 3479 (fastest score 4873/slowest score 3479 (mine))

Do you have any advice/ help for me to get more fps??

THANKS

Fill in your system specs, It'll be a lot easier to find out why it's not working fine:D
