Ubisoft has released a demo of their upcoming game, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. The game is already available for the Xbox, Xbox 360, and PS2. It will be one of the first PC games to support a physics acceleration card and will be available in stores on May 3rd, 2006.

Tom Clancy + Anything not cold war = OK, not great

Tom clanceys raindbow six 3 for xbox and the other one (not the latest one) were the best, like the rest of the games, he keeps making the same series, they get old after a while.

But this ghost recon looks ok.... Looks alot like the others...

Same gameplay boring..

heh its NOTHING like any of the others, but dont expect it too look like that theres an AA bug in it so nobody can get any AA(may have to do with HDR but nobody with X1000 can get any either)

Bahh this is the worst xbox360-PC port yet! It is literally unplayable with all the settings at their absolute minimums, and the resolution at 1024x768. Wow and I thought CoD2 was bad...

Not a port, but I wish it was because I heard that the xbox 360 version is great. I downloaded this thinking I could enjoy it. I was greatly disappointed. You walk too slowly(I know you can run, but then you cant shoot), the graphics have major problems, and the game doesn't pause when you bring up the map to send commands to your other ghosts. The best thing is that you can slide and dive, but that by no means makes a great game. Ohh, and the amount of mods that you can add to your gun is cool.

the console versions are deathmatch running and spraying pieces of shit with the tom clancy name.

pc version is extremely good. once you get used to the tactical gameply, and get out of ur doom3 and quake style shooting preference youll get stuck playing this game.

u see my specs? im running the game maxed at 1024x768 getting 35-40 fps, HDR on, no AA cause its got the same bug as oblivion and such.

this game will be much bigger then console crap little brother.

downloading now, hopes its good and my system plays it

what things do u hate about this game ?

I had really high hopes on this game. But this demo is a real letdown. The 360 version is a masterpiece, i love that game, but i dont think this will be. Not even the full retail game. This felt so beta, so unfinished. And real ugly tooo.

ok as for my computer it ran good with all high settings

as for the game, the controls are shit, i dont know how to control the other soldiers

how do you control the other soldiers (are they called ghosts ?)

does this thing come with starforce ("ubisoft protection system") attached to it?
cause when i downloaded the demo for 'blazing angels' (also from ubisoft) it had starforce attached to it... and no way am i letting that thing onto my PC...

the controls are meant to be shit, ubisoft hired a real director, the game is not suppose to be easy, the controls are suppose to be awkward because its a tactical shooter, meaning ur skills in the game become important, not just spray and pray.

honestly give it a chance, and watch the damn included tutorial for crying out loud, if u cant figure out the controls, try the....DUR control menu to see what does what.

the demo only comes with the medium texture settings other wise the demo would be alot larger filesize, so keep in mind these arnt the maxed graphics.

DEMO, do you know what this means? a demonstration.....jesus you kids.....

and no, no starforce anymore with any ubisoft games from what i read.

I played ghost recon 1 & 2 on xbox and loved them both, I hope this one is just as good. I would just buy the Xbox360 version but I cant find an xbox360 at any store near where i live.

xbox360 version will be more like the other console ghost recon games.

PC version will be the like the original rainbow 6 for PC. i think the players of the original rainbow 6 are going to love this game where as, console gamers are going to hate it, simply because they cant fly around the map at 20mph and spam rocket launchers at each other.

I went back and played the demo again, slowly this time. I took my time switching back and forth between the satellite view to make sure I wasnt going to turn a corner and an enemy would be waiting for me. I find it a much better experience now, but still not great. The controls are still clunky, but I guess in time they will become easier to use.

whats hamachi

hamachi is a VPN tunneling software, essentially anyone who joins ur Server is attached to your router, im pretty sure this means network printers, xbox lan, game lans, file sharing all work.

Did you update openal32.dll and wrap_oal.dll for GRAW today?

I just realize that GRAW using an older version of openal32.dll.
Here is what you do to update your OpenAL32.dll as some of you are probably using a version much older then the one supplied in GRAW thus causing the slower performance.

Go here to download OpenAL32.dll:
http://developer.creative.com/articles/article.asp?cat=1&sbcat=31&top=38&aid=46

-Install OpenAL
-Go to Windows/system32/
copy Openal32.dll, wrap_oal.dll, onto desk top. Make a folder on your desk top and save these files there are many games like BF2 that use this file. Although BF2 calls it BF2OpenAL.dll instead of OpenAL32.dll.
-Copy and paste those files into X:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Demo\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter Demo
-Yes you want to copy over the old files, next play the game and see if you have a boost in performance.

This may not work for everyone but those who have an Audigy or X-Fi should notice a bump.

I went from 30FPS-40fps to around 55fps-60FPS

As you can see I am obtaining 61 FPS in the 3 photos. Although that is only a short glimpse. I am notice an improvement in game play.

If that does not work for you the only other suggestion would be to reinstall your current drivers thus reinstalling your older openal32.dll and wrap_oal.dll (found windows/system32) and use them to replace openal32.dll and wrap_oal.dll (GRAW dir) and see if that helps.

I downloaded this thing off TPU server today, and this game SUCKS. Controls are awful, graphics insult people like me with high end SM2 cards, the engine is a turd, and the physX drivers are confusing. Oh yeah speaking of physX drivers...there really is no point to get one now. I'm getting 50fps minimum on the "boxes demo"...ATI has me taken care of :p. Now if you excuse me I have a halo server calling me name.

ok i press tab yo see the birds eye view map thing, i click a soldier (are they called ghost) then i click attack to where the enermies are, i see a red line appear, i press excute, they say "ok" but they dont move, what am i doing wrong
