Hi, still struggling to choose a Z390 board for my i7 9700k. After reading all of the reviews and getting totally confused about VRM and thermal throttling, I had decided on the Auros Pro WIFI however I have just read a review which states this:

“No AVX offset with MCE enabled (5GHz AVX = bad), ICCmax Constraints not followed, Disabled MCE still does not throttle as Intel guidelines dictate, No POST code display”.

PC will be used for gaming, probably STEAM mostly, audio production Cubase, and video editing. Never overclocked before but would like to give it a go.

Originally I was going with the ASUS Z390 Rog Strix E but reviews and price bad. All of the Z390 boards seem to have some sort of issue. Was looking to spend up to £250 max but preferably a lot less!

I have listed the items I have decided on so far, only bought the PSU.

The last PC I built I had never heard of any of this, do I really need to worry about it? I have no idea what it is!

Thanks so much for your help!

With 28% of newegg users really unhappy (0 eggs)n and only 46% real happy (5 eggs), might wanna pass .... however, i thing you are going to find that when manufacturers try and squeeze WiFi into a MoBo ... (personally we recommend not getting WiFi on MoBo for desktops) , that to meaet their target price point, things have to be but elsewhere and that means something takes a hit. Of course much of the complaints relate to user knowledge but if i see < 50% 5 reggs or more than 20% 0 eggs ... I figure odds are we've left enough leeway to cover those who should have had a friend buld their box.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I haven’t seen the newegg reviews. Are there no decent Z390 boards than?

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Why is this not part of your other thread talking about the build?

Anyway...aorus master is solid. The Wifi..we had a user at my site upgrade to the master from the wifi as his vrms were toasty with his 5ghz+ chip.

do tell why you reccomend not getting wifi for a desktop? What does that mean?

Apologies, I’m not an experienced forum user and didn’t realise I should stay on one link. Thank you

Most of the gigabyte Z390 boards are some of the best (VRM) performance for dollar, my Gaming X was $120 on sale and handles my 8700K fine at 5ghz

I also need to correct something. He used a Z370 Wifi, not Z390. I don't recall offhand if those have the same VRM. GIGABYTE used only a couple of VRMs levels in their boards and solid ones made their wayt down the stack.

Right. I want asking for input, but correcting a piece of information from my post.

I'm implying z390 vrm is solid once it raised a tier.
