A client gave me a PC a few days ago with this annoying problem of booting and them resetting a few seconds later and continues to throw this endless loop.

I'm aware this motherboard uses Dual Channel DDR3 and needs two identical DIMMs to function. After a few hours of tinkering i have found:

It's not a bad power supply.
Tried 2 different pairs of working RAM and the problem is still there.
Cleared the CMOS, nothing.
Motherboard is properly fitted and away from any static or electric problems.

Anyone have an idea what might be wrong?

Have you tried booting with a single stick, there may be an issue with one of the ram slots. One stick is enuff to boot.

Edit: welcome!

reboot problem could be something corrupt in the OS... Bad registry file such as a driver or .dll file. Have you tried a repair of the OS yet?

No display. No POST. It starts, runs for 3 seconds, no beeps and restarts.

Bad or corrupt OS. try a fresh install with maybe a different harddrive...
Also boot with just harddrive and memory and video card...

Well.. Unplugging the hard drive still results in the same problem. So I doubt it has anything to do with the OS.

not good then sounds like it could be the motherboard is bad..

Quite probably a corrupt BIOS in that case, as you build, i assume you have access to another PC so try downloading the Bios from gigabyte's web site and put it on a bootable floppy or pen drive and do a flash on boot start.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. The original motherboard that came with the PC was sent in 2 days ago and they said it was bad and gave us a replacement. The new one is doing the same so I guess it has to be sent back.

You may find the flash will work (there will probably be newer Bioses on the site), it only takes a few minutes but I suppose in your situation it may be better to return.

Updating the BIOS seems like it's not going to work since I don't have access to a command prompt or boot setup.

are you sure the video card is ok,

Video card is fine. To make sure, I removed it and plugged the monitor into the on board VGA. Same problem.

Is that not what the boot disk will give you? I understand where you are coming from though.... not sure.

Haha. Not sure either. I'll talk to my boss and see what he thinks of it. We've been getting a lot of bad motherboard from both Gigabyte and MSI, usually errors like no boot beeps and faulty VGA plugs or faulty ROM chips.

Then I would say the board is bad..I have several Gigabyte & MSI boards and haven't had any problems with any of them ....SO FAR....

It's mainly our MSI G41TM-P31 boards that give these problems, with my luck it's usually 1 out of 5 that are bad.

WOW not good odds it sounds like. I guess I've been lucky so far then...
Good luck with the one you got..

Thanks. Haha.. Hopefully I'll get it up and running soon.

Haha, yes.. during the past 2 weeks I've built PCs with these MSI boards and I've found 3 out of 11 boards that give the same problem. I'm not saying MSI products are bad, in fact I think they produce great wares.. You just need to be careful when you purchase a G41 board.
