Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090: rattling fan

This GPU was bought new from Microcenter in early June and now one of the fans is rattling. In all my past experiences it seemed like a rattling fan was the prelude to its death knell.

Can I RMA before the fan actually dies or do I have to wait until it's dead? It kinda sucks that such an expensive videocard would have this issue after < 3 months.

I mean it wouldn't hurt to contact gigabyte..... I've never encountered this issue on any gpu I've owned but it seems relatively common unfortunately. Do you know what fan it is? The center fan spins opposite of the two outside fans. Is it at specific rpm like low or high rpm only?

Speaking of experience if you flip the pc case on its face it stops or upside down but then it can get a reverse sag or whatever just not in the normal position. I have been using it like that for ages.

kind of what N/A said, have you tried to do sag support? i have a measured and cut pencil holding up the end of my 16 inch long 4.5 slot 7900 xt MERC (yes it is that big when you install the support bracket for it that comes in the box) so i have two support measures in place for my giant card.

then if that doesn't work you could try a vertical mount pci gen4 kit. see if that fixes it. annoying i know, but you might get lucky.

better than having to do an RMA and getting a used/refurbed 4090 back. RMA don't have to send you a new product, they can send you a refurbed one at their own discretion. so you might be better off trying to get it sorted now before having to resort to that.

but if nothing fixes it that you can think of or try, then yeah RMA imo, worst they can say is no wait until the fan dies. alternatively Microcenter has INSANE customer service, even if you don't buy the extra warranty they offer in house, I have found they will take things several months later and fix them for free. (they might even offer a replacement if you still have receipt and its only been 3 months, they have been known to extend their policy on this sometimes in rare occasions)

so to summarize: I just gave you 3 things to try. report back and let us know how it goes mate. I would do all 3 of these before last resort of RMA.
