Hi guys can you help me I bought this VGA (Gigabyte HD7870 OC Edition) 4 years ago and everything was perfect till yesterday. I was playing Dota 2 then my PC froze with a green screen and artifacts, now after the boot sequence my PC just fall in a black screen but i can hear the windows sound logon. As you can see in the images even the BIOS is showing artifacts (blue dots), i cant boot in safe mode or any other mode unless i select "Enable low-resolution video (640x480)" I tried disconnecting and connecting everything, isopropyl alcohol, rubber to rub contacts but no luck. If i boot with the onboard GPU everything works perfect.
My specs are:
-Asus M4A785-M
-Phenom 2 x4 945
-4GB DDR2
-Corsair TX650W

I heard that the Power Supply degrades over time this is true? My Corsair TX650 must be 5 years old. Maybe the onboard GPU is not draining enough power to show errors? These are the voltages and artifacts: http://imgur.com/a/7fHjQ

Please help and sorry for the english im from brazil.

Thank you

It is indeed toast my friend... As mentioned you can try baking it (Google is your friend) I brought bk a dead gtx 570 like this a few months ago, but sounds like a vram issue if it's artifacting even in the bios, coloured lines /squares /pixels are a 90% certainty a vram issue when you have ruled out driver issues which is the case as it happens before windows and drivers load....

indeed likely the vram is simply toast, and baking doesn't usually fix that

you don't need to pull the plastic just the head-sink and pads and front shield (tho if you are paranoid about the plasic you can wrap the end of the card in a few layers of foil or pink insulation or both as I did
ops vram is bad baking it is very likely not gonna fix it or render the card completely dead

Thank you so much for your help but replace is not an option. When i bought this VGA One Dollar was worthing R$1.80 Reais(brazilian currency) now worth like R$4.00 Reais LOL, would be like 2 times the minimum wage/month and im broke as fuck. I think i have no balls to do the Oven trick i can't cook a biscuit right. I heard about reballing the Chipset but you guys mentioned faulty VRAM so i don't know what to do. If i got courage to bake it i will post the results.

Thank you guys have a nice day

It's working again guys! this is so funny  i baked for 10 minutes 180°C in the electric oven it's looking rock solid only the temps are a bit too high, im used to set the fan to 40% 24/7 and never saw temps over 70°C but now is hitting 90°C under full load maybe because there is no thermal paste i don't know i will let the fan in auto mode for now, sounds like it's going to take off but its working again thanks! :peace:

Meh...who needs thermal paste? Just run Furmark for a few minutes. That'll get it good and burned in.

PLEASE DO NOT do that...I was just kidding. :nutkick:

PLEASE DO apply some kind of TIM immediately before you run anything. ;)

Hahaha crazy gamer. :D Put some TIM on the GPU! Never run compute units without TIM. The temps are that high, exactly because of that, the TIM is used to close the gap between the GPU and the cooler, else it is filled with AIR, and air travels slowly compared to a direct touch on the cooler.
