Hi i was planning to upgrade my pc with a gtx 1080 and a new cpu but i don't know which one to get. I am looking for a good price to performance cpu. Any good recommendation?

I am looking for a amd cpu at the moment

Because i already have a b450 motherboard

What is your current cpu ? (if you have B450 then you might already have a decent CPU for the 1080).

Most B450 motherboards support Ryzen 3000 and 5000 via bios update so popular options will be something like a 5600 or 5600x.

Don't know how inflated prices are in Sweden but if those 2 are way too expensive then the 5500 is 20-25% cheaper and still offers good performance (it's around 10% faster than the 3600X)

Definitely R5 5600, my kid uses 3600 w/o issues but I'll upgrade it 5600 eventually.

If you find any used Zen2 (3X00 series) for lower than $150 it would do well. For a new CPU, I would go for the 5600 as most posted above.

do not buy the 5500 it is like a sidegrade at most to the 3600 or any matisse.
if you have a 3600 or something already, consider sticking it out, if you're on a 2700x or 1600 or something, you might want to consider the 5600 but thats about it

That's exactly why I said "I don't know the prices in Sweden, if you can't budge the preferred 5600 series then it's not bad"

First question I asked him was what is your current CPU. I made no assumptions, posted straight facts ("5600/5600x will the popular options, 5500 is okay if on a tight budget, and post your current CPU because it might be good for a 1080").

First you are vague with what you have.

Give us Case, Case Fans, Power Supply, Motherboard, Ram, CPU, Heatsink, GPU, Storage and Optical Drives info, be detailed and specific.

You also have another thread relating to this with gpu suggestions.

i just have a motherboard because i have been planning on upgrading but dont have the cpu yet

In that case then what has been suggested is good (5600 or 5600x is preferred, 5500 is okay if on a tighter budget )

Try a 5800 on ebay (get it tested imediately upon receiving it)
