Ok, my WD Blue 320GB hard is making some noise. It may be normal. But in any case, I just requested a RMA thru warranty.
What I got was the same HD but "recertified". And the warranty on this re-certified expires in July, 7 2010.....

My current WD BLUE warranty runs thru Feb 23, 2011.
Should I just return their "recertified" drive and sell my old one on ebay and purchase a new drive?'

The recertifed HD was manufactured on Feb 7, 2010. And warranty period til July 7, 2010. 5 month warranty period? LOL

my old drive had a 3 year warranty period.

If you think there may be something wrong with it, don't try to sell it. That's just wrong.

If you contact them and let them know ( it would probably help if you still have receipt or documentation ), they will adjust the warranty; or, at least they did when I returned one.

I don't think there anything wrong with it. It's just normal WD hard drive noise. I know seagate are quieter for me so I will be getting that instead.

I'm cloning the old HD to the new seagate right now. It's not making noise any noise at all. It's only noticeable later at night when things are really quiet. A noise similar to someone typing real fast. or something.

From their warranty page: "WD's warranty applies to repaired or replaced Products for the balance of the applicable period of the original warranty or ninety days from the date of shipment of a repaired or replaced Product, whichever is longer."

So the warranty will be extended to my original warranty date? Feb 23, 2011?

Ok, WD will change the 90-day warranty on the recert drive with my original warranty date once they received my old drive.

Oh , you called or emailed them and they are; then, they are still on my ok list.:)
