Hello people, I will be quick and clear. I need to change the termal paste on my graphics card and I want you to tell me which of the ones I will list will have the same performance as the stock paste.

These are the only pastes available to me, at my lication. I will physically go to a store and buy paste, yeah.

These are my only options for now.

Also, please tell me which of these screwdrivers will fit perfectly into the screws of the graphics card pcb, AND WHAT SIZE, in mm, please. Up to 36kn.

My graphics card is https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b2153/gainward-gtx-760

IMPORTANT NOTES

1.) My cards (both) have a peak of 1097 Mhz @ 80-81 celsius, and 100% usage. I can let them run like that for months without end. (If you don't believe me, get one and try it.)

2.) I need to change the paste on the first card because it has started rapidly dropping clock to 980 Mhz @ 81 C. That is horrible because that has never happened in the last 2 years.

3.) HOW do I put back the screws with springs!? Do I need to press hard or how?

MX4. But i would not expect an improvement of temperatures on that card, did you try to clean the radiator and fan of dust ?

In the future, posting links is fine but no need to give us RSI having to click all of them to find out what yoiu are considering. You will get more and faster answers if we can just read the options list.

With MX-4 being the only recognizable one in the bunch, that's the only one i could recommend.

The 760 doesn't need anything fancy. But more importantly, make sure you buy enough to cover the GPU, Memory and VRMs, you may also find yourselves needing pads in addition to paste.

I can't speak to your card specifically, but see the photos here for an idea of what you may run into

Before tackling a project with which you are unfamiliar, I would 1st suggest:

a) Cleaning the filters in front of your case fans.

b) Remove the card from the PC and blow out all the dust from the heat sink.

3. Do the same with the CPPU heat sink and interior of case.

I want you to tell me which of the ones I will list will have the same performance as the stock paste.

MX-4 will assuredly exceed the stock paste in thermal conductivity.

3.) HOW do I put back the screws with springs!? Do I need to press hard or how?

You do not need to press down very hard at all, only press them down lightly and turn to engage the threads. Once the threads are engaged you can tighten it down to the card.

Also, please tell me which of these screwdrivers will fit perfectly into the screws of the graphics card pcb

The Proxxon screwdriver kit on the front page of that store for 31kn should have the sizes you need.

  1. Definitely the MX-4
  2. #0 and #1 Philips(no idea what those are in mm)
  3. The screws with springs aren't that complicated. You'll figure it out.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did blow out the radiator and fan, a huge cloud of dust went out, but that didn't help at all. Like I mentioned, I just want it to go back to the way it was a month ago. I can't play normally because it keeps dropping to 980 Mhz even at 81 C. A month ago it was still running at 1097 Mhz at 81C and never dropped. I don't know why the rapid change. July was very hot here in my location, my roon was at least 38 C... But I didn't play at that time much...

I woukd like to mention I mostly play Blue Reflection and Atelier Lydie and Suelle, and Assassin's Creed Unity and Syndicate. I have everything, all DLCs, all.

Those games run the card at 99-100% usage with vsync at 1080p and 1440p, which is perfectly fine for me.

EDIT
Thanks for all the replyes everyone, I appreciate it. (I just noticed them now.)

Another vote for MX-4.

Unless the cooler was somehow shifted or damaged, I do not think the thermal paste change will have any significant impact. You could make it worse if you are only prepared to address the GPU cooling and ignoring the VRMs and memory. 38C is an extreme temp.... with most cards

Here's a 760 hitting 70C ... with testing normally done at 23C, your 38C puts that temp at +15C or 85C, well past the known throttling point

Temperatures are relatively high and seem to get capped by NVIDIA's Boost 2.0 algorithm, which reduces clocks when the card exceeds 80°C. However, this happens at the cost of performance, so most custom design cards try to stay below 80°C.

Personally, try to get CM MasterGel Maker Nano, superb thermal paste. Or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. These two are top of the line at the moment. Next good option is Gelid Extreme. But if only option is what you listed, then go with MX-4. It's an older thermal paste, but still very capable and has the highest thermal conductivity of the ones you've listed at 8.5 W/mk.
