Graphic Card (9600XT) Problems

I'm using a Powercolor 9600XT graphic card which defaults at 500/338, and also the ATi Control Panel, as I heard the Control Centre is a terrible memory hog. AFAIK, I'm using the latest drivers....

Anyway, on my Control Panel, there is no tab for the overdrive. I distinctly remember seeing it there before.....but now, there's no tab. According to the documentation that comes with my card, the function is there.

Should I use overdrive if I'm oc-ing my card? What are the limits I should respect for the card if I'm using the default hsf?

Also, while running 3dmark 03, I encountered some problems. I was running 3d Mark 03 just then, when halfway into all the tests, there was a error saying "atidvag display driver crashed or something like this", and I had to reboot.

What are the possible causes? I oc-ed the card too high? I tried running 3dmark 03 using my default card settings, and no error happened. Any idea why?

same here i bought a 9600 xt card and i have teh same poblem except mine is clocked higher than urs but lower than what was said to be. mine is at 500/248 but that 50 mhz is a big diffrence is what i was told

try reinstalling the drivers. uninstall, then reinstall.

To fix the OD tab....

Make sure the ATI HotKey Poller service is running (Ati2evxx.exe). Disabling this service will cause the OD tab to vanish. Re-enabling it restores the tab. If you do decide to reinstall drivers, use DriverCleaner (http://www.drivercleaner.net/) for a clean driver install.

When OCd beyond what the OD tab provides, my 9600XT stops playing nicely with 3D Mark 2003. I can use 3D Mark 2001 SE with fewer issues.
