Hey people, this is my first time here and I have read up quite a bit about what's gone on here, and I like some of the responses given out by a few people thus far!
What was pondering me is this, I'm having troubles with my computer, the system is as follows;
- AMD Athlon64 FX-55 2.6Ghz
- 2.0GB RAM - (2x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series DDR CAS2-3-2-5 OCZ
- MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum m/b
- nVidia GeForce XFX 6800 Ultra 256Mb (81.85 WHQL Drivers)
- 420GB HD Space (1x 120GB SATA + 1x 300GB SATA)
- NEC Dual Layer 16x DVD +/- RW Drive
- Monitor; Iiyama 8ms 17" LCD
- Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
- Creative Inspire 5.1 P5800
- ThermalTake Shark Series Case (Black)
- Hyper Type-R 525Watt PSU
- Microsoft Black Digital Media Keyboard PS/2 USB
- Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical Ivory
- OS: Windows XP Professional
I've just downloaded the new nForce3 drivers from nVidia (5.11) as the ones I currently have are 5.10. What bothers me though, is that when I'm playing World of Warcraft I have to take off my shaders in order to play the game properly, otherwise it hardlocks my system and loops a sound effect that is rather irritating. To stop that, I have to manually push the On/Off button and hold it to switch off my PC, once off I can then turn my system back on.
I have retrieved my MSINFO and stored it within a .txt file which can be found here; MSINFO.
My DirectX diagnostic report is stored here; DxDiag.
I have a HTML report of my system too with Everest; Home Edition. That can be found here; Report .
I'm going to be installing the 5.11 nForce3 drivers when I have posted this, which will give you lot time to read my report hehe! Hopefully someone will be able to help me in any way possible!
Anyway, to get into it, I'm thinking of swapping the default cooler for my GeForce XFX 6800 Ultra to this one; NV Silencer 5 (Rev.2) but I'd like to get your lots opinion on the best cooler for me Graphics Card, besides that, I have the default heatsink and fan on my AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 but I was going to be putting in ThermalTakes Big Water Cooling kit in, though ironically two parts of the pump broke when I applied little force to take the clips from the plastic section of the pump so I could fit the tubes, so I left it at that. (I'm a novice for Water Cooling PC's, but I can build them none the less =)) I am eventually hoping to get a water cooling kit into this system soon, not yet though need to save up! One that is good enough and not "too" expensive! I'm after cooling mainly my CPU and GPU, though NB is up to you peeps, and whether you think its worth doing it.
I checked my IRQ's too, and here is what there is so far;
As you can see from the picture above; IRQ's 16, 19, 21 and 22 are shared, all but IRQ's 16 are shared by 2 objects whereas IRQ 16 is shared by 3. I have gone through each sharing item and gone to their properties to find out whether there are any "conflicts" and each one says "No conflicts." -- So this is a stump for me, I can't tell whether it is them or not which may be causing me problems for my game crashing in World of Warcraft, as it only looks up Warcraft. Planetside just gives me "planetside.exe" errors but that is bearable. All my other games I run with 1024x768 resolution and optimal settings, which are normally High / Very High, Detected by the actual game.
Far Cry runs amazing with fully blown graphics, as with my other games.
I have Riva Tuner and I have clocked my core down from 425Mhz to 410Mhz to see if that would help, it didn't do much. I don't know how to check my temps while playing games, so I can't give any information there. I have FRAPS so I can make movies and such if need be.
My temps/volts as of the current moment are as follows;
CPU Temp Idle; 33C
System Temp Idle; 32C
GPU Temp Idle; 45C
Ambient Temp Idle; 31C
Vcore; 1.50v
3.3V; 3.42v
+5V; 5.16v
+12V; 12.26v /// 12.38v (This is jumping between the two voltages readings gradually going up to 12.38 and back down to 12.26)
As you gathered, I'm in a bit of a state really, don't know what to do now as I've tried quite a few things but to no avail, reverting back to previous GFX drivers just makes things worse.
Another thing to top it off, is my DirectX diagnosis of the Direct3D, this puzzles me quite a bit, when I first installed the 81.85 drivers for my graphics card the 3D box was perfect and was shown well, now though its all messed up and really bad, I can't show any previews as trying with FRAPS showed the 3D Box to be ok, after stopping the movie capture and running the Direct3D again the box was speeded up and looking aweful!
I'm also thinking of buying a new motherboard and binning this current motherboard as I am unsure whether the problem may lie with the board too...
Personally I need some opinions on this and was looking forward to finding something new from you people if you manage to know something about this
If not then there is no worries as eventually the problem should get a fix!
If you need anymore information then please do ask and I will try to aquire it for you!
