I have just installed my new graphics card (GeForce rtx 2060)

I have 2 monitors both hdmi

The monitor which is connected to the graphics card starts up and displays the screen for about 10 seconds on boot up

The monitor which is connected to the integrated graphics doesn’t display anything(black screen) and when the other monitor goes off (after 10 seconds) this one comes on and boots as normal into windows 10 with the other one still off

In device manager the graphics card is shown with a yellow triangle with an explanation mark in the middle and it says error code 46 windows has stopped this device from running due to problems

I have looked online

And found reinstalling the drivers fixes the issue. it hasn’t for me

I have used DDU to delete all the drivers and reinstall them from the NVidia website to no avail

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Error 43 i accidentally said 46

I am guessing there is a conflict between your on board graphics and the 2060 if you are using both, what is your Bios setting for the boot graphics devices, is there an auto option in there for the bios to self detect because not knowing what your motherboard is it kind of sounds like you have your primary set to on board.

Additionally, if not already, ensure your on board drivers are upto date. Also have you set up multiple displays in NVidia control panel?

Mother board is GA-Z77-D3H gigabyte with intel processor and it is set to automatic ( usually on PEG ) but i can’t see what’s going on because when it’s just the graphics card plugged in i get a black screen

So even if i disable onboard it still doesn’t display anything ( it does for 10 seconds on boot up) as said in main post after 10 seconds it goes dark

Start computer with only 1 monitor connected to IGP, uninstall all GPU drivers. Shut dow. Start up PC still connected to IGP, enter BIOS and select display innit>PEG. Turn off computer. Unplug monitor from IGP and plug into 2060. Does it boot?

Right this is very odd, with just the HDMI connected to the integrated i get no display at all, just 2 black screens (the other monitor is not connected to anything so that’s expected) but even the 1 with the integrated gets no signal so it means i can’t boot into the BIOS because i cant see the screen while the card is plugged in

The only way i can boot into the bios is when the card is taken out

My BIOS is UEFI (changed after last post problem with another GPU) would that have anything to do with this?

As soon as i plug in the hdmi to the GPU the computer starts back up exactly the same way it does in the original post , without there being a connection to the GPU via hdmi the Pc goes into power saving mode it appears

Note : without the GPU in the slot it takes the computer approximately 15 seconds to boot to the windows 10 screen

With the GPU it takes around a minute

PSU adequate to drive the GPU? I'd want no less than 450w quality PSU.

Card may be defective.

Yes PSU has 600 watts and card requires less than half of that , the card lights up and spins and is also recognised in the bios and in device manager

If it was defective i doubt it would even show up but the PC clearly recognised that it is plugged

I’m not going to rule it out but this is the 2nd card i bought in a matter of 3 days which hasn’t worked ( previous one didn’t even get detected at all ) this one gets detected but i get the error. What are the chances

50/50 every time i'd say

Had my motherboard die on me. Purchased a new one that turned out to be DOA. Had to drive 20 minutes back to microcenter and pick up a second new board. 2nd one worked.

Bought a new set of RAM, one stick was dead. Returned it, for a second set.... one stick was dead. Returned it, third set worked.

Sometimes you just run a streak of bad hardware.

Are you certain the card is fully seated in the PCIE slot? Is the 8-pin power cable connected?

Additionally, what kind of computer are we talking about here? Does it have really old motherboard?

Gigabyte z77-dh3

Yes it’s definitely in the computer recognises that the card is in

Your motherboard is the problem.

What revision is your motherboard?
