Graphics Issues After Moving PC: Game Lag, Text Rendering Problems, and OBS Black Screen

Hi everyone,

I recently moved to a new house and have encountered several graphics-related problems with my PC, which I hope to get help with. I suspect that this is GPU damage, but I really hope it doesn't... I tried to be really gentle with my PC.

Here are the issues I'm facing:

1. Game Lag: One of my games, which used to run smoothly, is now experiencing significant lag. The strange part is that I have tested two games: Hell Divers 2 (a really intensive game) and Noita (a light pixel 2D game). Only "Noita" shows me slow-mo.

2. Web Browser Text Rendering: Text in my web browser is displayed incorrectly, or some letters are not shown. Maybe not only in Browser, but I haven't noticed it other places. Here are some examples: example.

3. **OBS Black Screen:** OBS shows a black screen when trying to capture my monitor's signal, even though all settings are correct. (at least it worked for many times before)

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor

What I've Tried So Far:

1. Updated GPU Drivers: Downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Geforce Experience app

2. Checked Physical Connections: I ensured the GPU was seated correctly and all cables were securely connected.

3. System Updates: Ensured the operating system is up to date.



Has anyone experienced similar issues or has any suggestions on what else I can try to fix these problems? I really need someone's help.

You have RTX 4090, the card is heavy. I would try to re-seat at least the graphics card if not all PC components and see if that helps. Also - how is ground (connections) in the new house (perhaps have it tested)?

No The PC was packed into the original case box with foam to protect against damage and seemed pretty secure for me. I tried to be gentle and pc was always in the right position.

any thoughts about errors in logs?

[SOLVED] - Graphics issues after moving PC ?

Hi everyone, I recently moved to a new house and have encountered several graphics-related problems with my PC, which I hope to get help with. I suspect that this is GPU damage, but I really hope it doesn't... I tried to be really gentle with my PC. Here are the issues that I noticed so far...

Solution
Here's what I do.
  • Remove video card before transport
  • Use expanding foam inside the case (instapack)
  • Transport case with the motherboard side down
If you keep the case upright with the video card still installed and no padding then it can put a lot of stress on the pcie when moving.
