I've been using this time-between-the-years to do some (system) housekeeping. Getting folders and directories and files and bookmarks and NAS cleaned up.

Well what a surprise! I ran the latest version of SuperAntiSpyware and discovered I had something LURKING on my PC. Don't know how it got there... but its days are over.

It was either a recent arrival, or the latest scanning tool found it.

I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL to do a little housework before the NY.

Bah humbug, I have two drives attached, both sides off, and wires everywhere, pictures and videos transversing about thirty different folders in different paths and drives. And Only have 700GB left out of 1.5TB and I have a few hundred more GB left on other assorted drives I haven't put in yet.

I need a 2TB drive for all my video and pictures I am working with. Plus a new file server for holding backups and new content I'm not ready for yet.

I run MSconfig & HijackThis quite often. Usually it's because I've noticed something has changed in the behavior of the system (apps/gaming/network, etc) and I know that I might have screwed up on a recent download. I just did my last cleanup a couple weeks ago. System is butter smooth. I quit using anti-malware apps for good.

I clean house every so often; re-install when needed. SuperAntispyware and MalwareBytes are great when needed. They help clean the stuff out the others miss. Yep, some things require a manual ejection, but for free, I'll let some software help where it can.

And, for those who say the don't use... your choice.
