I was playing this when they were running the first closed beta. good game, had some bugs and balancing issues but i think those have been fixed since. Might play some later!

yeah, It's kinda similar to the one in BF2142, I forgot the mode name

As long as you don't go in thinking it plays like a proper mech warrior game and more like BF3 but in armor then you'll be okay. If you want a proper mech game go play MWO.

When I play this game it feels like I'm playing any other first person shooter but I'm in a small mech unit. I say small because unlike most mech games; in this game the mechs are small compared to the surrounding structures.

Personally I can't get into it.

Although I will say it runs pretty bad even on my system, maxed out it doesn't even get a solid 60FPS. Is it just me or is it really badly optimized?

MWO is to Hawken what Arma2 is to CoD, but the downside to MWO will be the players who have stuck around since MechWarrior 2. They are going to kick our asses.

No problems with my rig, all maxed out with PhysX on. Maybe it's because it's still BETA.

I really like the game. And i don't agree it's like CoD, if you play it like CoD your are going to loose quickly.

Too true! I love MWO but I suck compared to many out there. Give me a heavy and I just sit back and launch LRM's all day!
 
does mwo work with a joystick(not a gamepad) like the old mw

Hawken or MWO ? I don't want to download both. Which is the best as far as gameplay and graphics ? I haven't played a Mech game in probably 10 years.

My take is that MWO is a better experience, if you played Mech Warrior you'll love it. Graphics are not bad. The other one is a generic shooter with the difference you're in a giant robot, nice graphics though. I don't play myself but my son is spending pretty much time lately with MWO.

I played Hawken for a short while. It turned out to be a repetitive process of 3 different scenarios:

1. You kill the enemy, then die shortly after. (Inevitably low life).
2. While you are fighting someone, a third party comes along and kills you both.
3. You die, and you will get an assist because your enemy will inevitably die shortly after.

That doesn't sound to fun :laugh: I was leaning towards MWO any way.
Not even sure how long it can hold my attention. Tried PS2 and didn't care for it.
The only game that isn't a Military shooter to hold my attention for any amount of
time has been FC3. Oh and the Crysis games.
 
Hawken is Unreal Tournament in mechs it might as well be any other generic fps because it does not play like a mech game.

MWO is beta there's quite a few bugs that you have to learn to live with and playing with pubs is horrible you need to find a group with voice coms.

Yes and no joystick support is being worked on, truth be told using a joystick for anything but throttle control is pointless you can aim 100x better with a mouse.


As much as MWO pisses me off with its incompetent devs I have played a ton of it and keep coming back for more despite its shortcomings.
These are my stats since open beta started and they reset them to give u and idea of just how much i play

Well tried them both. I like Hawkens better. Maybe because it simpler I don't know.
 
I haven't played HAWKEN yet (so they might already have done this), but I got an idea in my head anyways - they should make jumping (and maybe moving to a less extent) delayed, not like lag or anything, but more like you're moving a giant robot and jumping/moving should take some effort to do.
 
Regular moving is already somewhat delayed since alpha 2 (or even earlier, I cannot say becazuse I did not play earlier versions), or at least with the bigger mechs.
