I feel stupid for even asking this, but I have never done this before.
I want to take my hard drive in my current system and use it as storage in my new system.
Old hd is a SEAGATE Barracuda 7200 RPM 1TB. it has win 10 installed on it.

I do not need the operating system on that old drive will it be fine or should I remove it.

My new system is a Ryzen 5 1600x in a Asrock AB 350 pro4 board. If I plug in that old drive it should pick it it. right?

If I read correctly, the new system has a drive for the OS, and you want to take that Seagate and use it for bulk storage. I would build the system without it, make sure the OS is all well and good. Then install the storage drive, reformat it, and give it a letter. Should be good to go after that for storage uses.

thats ok, just plug it and format it then you can use it as data storage
your system would recognize it then you can use administrative tools > computer management to manage the drive for more

Its actually a good question. To do it right

Take the data off of it you want to keep. Use Diskpart command to remove the boot sector and OS and format

If you just format it the boot sector will remain and take up space and could cause problems in the future with booting. Its a pet peeve of mine people bring PCs to me to fix and I find 3 boot partitions on various drives

Usually when you plug a old drive into a new PC it takes a minute to get permission to access the drive. Just wait. Keep in mind there could be malware on the old drive. Do not try to copy programs over. Just data
