System Name sh*t !
Processor C2D E7500 2.93 @ 3.57GHZ
Motherboard ASUS G41-combo
Cooling stock
Memory corsair 4gb DDR2 at 983 MHZ
Video Card(s) XFX HD5770 flashed with asus modified BIOS @ 950/1375
Storage seagate barracuda 1TB
Hey guys !
I decided to educate myself a bit on PC hardware and stuff .
I also downloaded GPU-Z , sapphire TRIXX and MSI afterburner
1) GPU-Z shows VDDC as 0 V
2) MSI afterburner , voltage adjustment is greyed out .
3) Sapphire TRIXX , voltage adjustment is greyed out .:banghead:
Strange thing is that all the games are running perfectly
Games that I've tried are-
1) Crysis 1 & 2
2) BFBC 2
3) L4D 1 & 2
4) cod 4-8
My GPU is HD5770 oc'd to 950/1375
I just can't put it further so I wanted to overvolt it . But seeing this IDK what to do ?

in MSI Afterburner have u been in Settings and click "Unlock Voltage Control" & "Unlock Voltage Monitering" ? if not try that

i don't remember if the HD 5770 supports VDDC reading but that could be why GPU-Z can't read it.

my old Asus Radeon EAH5770 1GB CuCore supported voltage adjustment i just had to unlock it in MSI Afterburner as i wrote above

THANKS for quick reply .
Yes I have edited ".cfg" file and yes I've ticked "unlock voltage control" .
I have xfx hd 5770 and I've flashed it with asus bios for higher oc limit . Could that be the reason for error in VDDC ?
Even with xfx bios , the voltage bar was greyed .
I did not check GPU-Z with xfx bios though
Should I try previous versions of GPU-Z ?
I'll try previous versions and post the results .

u need to check ur voltage control chip on the card, some chips don't support software voltage control, as MSI Afterburner is doing.

u can try check with a previous version of GPU-Z but i doubt it will show anything but if it does i hope W1zzard will check this post bcs than he needs to fix it in a newer version but i doubt that will be the reason.

I think you are right .
While surfing I read somewhere one guy complaining about xfx model(same as mine) that he was unable to overvolt it .
Damn ! I guess I'll have to live with this .
I've learnt my lesson to never purchase a non refference xfx model .
I'll try to post pics of the card's voltage regulators . IMO it has a non programable voltage regulator .
Yeah ! I can understand , who would build a new version for a 3 year old card ehh !
950/1375 is not too shabby at stock voltage . Ain't it ? But it would have been really nice if I would have pushed it to break "magical 1Ghz" .
Thanks for your helpful replies !

you are welcome GameR1120, but reference card or not, some non-reference like Asus/MSI pcbs supports Voltage regulation but i guess XFX just didn't through it was in need, but u can always hardmod ur card i have seen several Sapphire Radeon HD5770 (ino they were ref-design with ref-cooler) but they did around 1200-1300mhz on the core on air.

but make sure before u do anything to check ur Voltage chip on ur card:

ATI 5750/5770 voltmod thread

Thanks again .
I'm getting a lot of new information on TPU .
Hardmod is always an option , but how about editing the bios with RBE(increase stock voltage) and reflashing it . But then , that might become tedious and there is a possiblity of bricking the card .
I would just hardmod it .
Any tips on hardmodding from your side ?

i never hardmodded a card myself, but i have looked at hardmodding for different cards, but i always ends up getting cards that supports software voltage regulation only card i had that didn't support that was my Sapphire Radeon HD5770 Vaporx card but i sold that i bought the Asus.

but as around in the AMD/ATi sector u r already posting this in or Overclocking & Cooling i think they can help u, there are a lot of smart ppl here on TPU ^^

Hey all, right now i have this very same issue, since updated driver version to 11.12 vddc monitor reads: 0.000 v, using 11.5 was showing correctly (0.95-1.0V), now im gettin this:
MSI Afterbuner voltage slider is also greyed out, but i dont think is related.

Thanks for your input christian27 .
It makes me relieved that I am not alone facing this problem.
I guess even I should try reverting to cat 11.5 .
But I doubt it would help , GPU Z showing 0 V because of updating drivers IDTS .

Hi, Having issues with this myself. Only started recently overclocking my HD5850 with Afterburner & I wanted to use GPU-Z to find out the VDDC temps.

Now GPU-Z has been showing the VDDC temps fine & then it just stopped. Ive had it come back afew times but now it wont display & shows as 0.00v
I just installed Trixx & this displays the VDDC info no problem.

Tbh, I would like to just use Afterburner & GPU-Z. It must be a simple answer if it works for another program (Nothing has been updated since its been working & stopped)

Any ideas?

Thanks

that shouldn't happen. trixx and gpuz use the same hardware engine

not sure why gpu-z says 0.0v .. if you have an instant messenger, contact me there for a debugging session

the HD 5770 doesn't support VDDC reading.:ohwell:

Yes !
Sapphire TRIXX is reporting correct voltage (still not able to adjust voltage though)
Thanks for suggestion :D
