Yup, Good buy.
I use Corsair Dominator, but nothing wrong with Ballistix.

Oh, and welcome to TPU scott.
Please fill out your system specs (in the usercp).
It helps a lot if you ask for troubleshoooting assistance.

google "ballistix rma rate" these used to be the best bargain memory in 2007, but since the failure rate has jumped they have been dethroned to memory like aXeRAM. the new batches are only single sided too and don't overclock as good. there is also several reasons why you could be getting good sticks.

Hmm odd, but doesn't explain how I have had no issues... Or any issues with any new D9 chipped sticks, only one issue and those were 800's clocked at 1200 @ 2.35 volts for a little over a year with not very good airflow.

I have noticed an issue with my Ballistix but I havent RMAed them yet. The heatspreader bows out at the bottom because of the small clip near the top that holds it together puts too much force at the top. Only the top of the chips make contact with the heatspreader.

I think they changed from d9gmh (double sided) to d9hnl (single sided) some people can't hit even 1100Mhz with the new batches. there could be any number of reasons why you are getting good sticks they could be pre-2008 for example whatever reasons most of them are going to point to the retailer you purchase from. what matters is Ballistix have a problem which we can all agree on :)

I had some DDR1 ballistix. I remember going from 512mb value ram to 1GB ballistix... I didn't overclock the main system back then, but I wish I could find out what they were capable of.

They're in my grandma's machine... and my uncle will have my head if I overclocked it

the new ones dont have the clips on top anymore just stuck on ram with that sticky tape they use
