As I'm sure many of you are aware, when one connects to a torrent swarm, one's bittorrent client reports its name and version number. I keep seeing "-BT71000" in the peers list, but googling for it turns up nothing. Anyone have any clue?
 
maybe its a VPN reading , or just a Generic "spoofed" reading for anonymity? im guessing the "BT" part is Bittorrent, or any of the other many programs with "BT" in their names
 
Sounds like a spoofed user agent session of bit torrent or transmission.
Could also be a random client ID generated by an out-of-the-US pathway.
 
There are techniques used to monitor your udp traffic. Have you checked your network ips before and after you started your client? This is why I ban torrent traffic on my network now.
 
ive found several threads/posts regarding the reading in question, im not able to speak with certainty regarding its origin, but i do know others have encountered it.
