have you stuck the thing into recovery mode?

try turning it off and disconnecting the USB cable, then hold down the home button (the main central button) and i think it was turn the device back on whilst STILL holding the home button(you defo have to hold the home not sure if you need to power on try both with powering on and without). still with the home button pressed plug it back into the machine and the device should have a picture of a usb cable and the itunes logo with an arrow. This should hopefully allow it to be restored atleast.

sources: had iphone that i done it to a couple of times

edit - yeah you dont have to power on mate just continue to hold the home button when you plug in the usb until it shows connect to itunes (wee cable with arrow to itunes logo)

What gen is your Ipod? What firmware? Please give us more details.

I've actually jailbroken my and Ipod touch 2ng gen and a couple iPhone 3g. I'll see what I can do.

Its 4gen and its 4.2.1

Whenever i try and restore i eventually get an error "3194"

ok mate what i have gathered from what you have said and the error code its because system’s host file has been changed to point to Cydia’s SHSH caching server, therefore itunes does not like it and throws a hissy fit with the error 3194 , its a bug in cydia

Try holding the power and home button till the apple pops up then the apple till it boots

If that doesnt work try holding the home button, plug it into your computer, (still holding the home button) click all of the notifications till it starts recovering and release the home button.

Do you have the original firmware? If not get it HERE and download the firmware version your iPod originally has.

Then, while you are stuck on the apple logo put it into dfu mode:
1. Hold the power button for 3 seconds
2. While holding the power button, press the home button for 10 seconds
3. Release the power button but keep pressing the the home button until the screen goes black.

Once you are in DFU connect you Ipod to your computer and in iTunes selesct your device and Shift+Click the restore button and select the firmware you downloaded from the link above.

If you still get any error just let us know.

if it turns out it is pointing to the cydia servers then itunes cant talk to it mate he will have to change it back to the itunes server first so it can be shift restored

+1

I forgot this one.

mine failed via itunes on the same firmware it was already on, i had to manually force it to update to ios5 before it would work.

What software did you use to jailbreak? And was your jailbreak tethered or untethered?

I used Redsn0w and it was tetherd...................also when i try to reeJailbreak it gets stuck at jailbreaking filesystem and eventually will just shut off and display the apple symbol again =.=

i don't know if im making headway or digging a deeper hole but my error just changed from 3194 to 2005! any ideass

I would make sure when you are trying to re-boot tethered you are selecting the correct custom firmware and it is recovery mode correctly, I had a similar problem recently when my girlfriend turned off my ipod without realizing it.
