http://coinmill.com/AUD_EUR.html says 4500 AUS$ is 2.6K in euros.
You could easily afford a Woodcrest system, kicking Conroe around like a little bitch with over 20GB/s RAM bandwidth.

[mod break]Please don't use language like "little bitch", and stop modding yourself and stop talking to yourself in 3rd person[/mod break]

IMO I would get some kind of multi-core system just for futureproofing. And 7950GX2. I'm an Nvidia guy.

aus vs. US $

i agree with above:7950gx2 esp at high res

if you are spending that much on speakers, get a sick soundcard, like an sb audigy one (i don't know which one cuz i'm cheap when it comes to sound right now)

maybe an OCZ psu (~700w)
and e6600 for proccy (same as 6700 and 6800 except multiplier)
and then a danger den WC pieces for cooling :D

Firstly, welcome to TPU bcurko :)

Yeah, id say if your running at higher resolutions, go for a 7950GX2. Although the x1950xtx has the gddr4 and stuff, the 7950 has the two cores. BUT, if your looking at getting more than one card, or upgrade in the near future, go the x1950, cus wen u put them in crossfire they will beat the 7950's

and prices over here in aus are a tad dearer than overseas :p
