I suspect that your CPU is not completely stable at the overclocked/unlocked settings. Have you tried returning your processor back to stock settings (no overclock or unlocked cores) and playing the game for a while at that? When your computer restarted due to the crash, it probably set the BIOS to safe settings thus relocking your cores and returning to default clocks, which would explain the drop in CPU score. When you restarted the computer again, the BIOS exited safe mode and returned to overclocked settings, thus raising your CPU score to the previous level.

drop your overclock and then try.

Tuned it down to 3.6 and rollin right along....ill see how this does for awhile and tune down more if needed......could it be a bad cpu?
thanks much for replying you guys

dude drop the overclock means use stock speeds. my phenom 94 x4 @ 3.6 cant run CoD, CoD crashes, not the whole PC though.

Come back to default speed and then try again.

CoD crashes for me if I don't enable manual fan control and turn up the fans speed to around 50% on my 5870

Ur card overheat may be ...

I know why it does it. Fan speed at 20% isn't enough to keep the card cool. I wasn't asking for help. I just thought I would pass on what causes problems for me with my ATI card to possibly help the OP.

Whatever man. It's not about me being better than you, or anything like that. I'm just trying to share what information I have from my experience that may be relevant to the OP's problem.

rolling hard and ALL is runnin well....it's a beast now, shredding thru Crysis/Warhead, BfBc2/Vietnam, DDO & CoD Black Ops all on enthusiast. Multiplayer is the same!
thanks for all the feedback!
cheers
