Please can u guys help.
I changed my case on my PC to one with additional fans coz my unit overheats in the confined space (Stupidly designed desk!!)...
Daft, blonde moment should've listened to myself "If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it!!"

Changed complete inards into 'Nokia' case... Motherboard,HDD,FDD,CD & Powersupply. I now have no monitor .. TFT shows .. "No input signal" no BIOS beeps (But that could be cos the case speaker is not working or the wires are back to front!!)
Have tried reseating all cards and cables power is going to board as all LED's are functioning as is the CPU fan & Case fans, if I wire them in.
Graphics card works fine in another machine and another machine works fine on Monitor .. eliminating Monitor and graphics card issues.
No new hardware has been added or removed during the change.
All wiring appears to be okay, unless there is something that I have overlooked :-S

Case shows HD LED ... power and reset LED's function CD drives functional and show lights on startup.

Any advice welcomed please.

Thanks.

Tell us your system stats? What motherboard, processor, video card, power supply etc...

Verify you have correctly mounted the motherboard to the tray..nothing but spacers behind the MB for the screws to attach the mb (or plastic tab push type).
Does your video card require an extra power connector on the back of it?

We need more info about what you have in your computer to better assist you.

Sorry for the incomplete details

Motherboard : ASRock K7SXE
Processor: AMD Athlon XP (can't remember which one) - But hasn't been moved off the board
Graphics card: ATi Radeon 9200 - Doesn't attach to board - Again not removed as it was a straight case swop but has been removed and reseated to test.
Power supply: 400

2 HDD one Maxtor & one Seagate ( both worked fine prior to swop).
1 CDD 1 DVD ROM
& FDD.
I've tried different ribbon connectors from the board to HDD's and CDD. Changed power connectors around to see if I had pulled wires off in transit.

Board attached to case with screws used ones that were in the new case. No spacers - should there have been?

Thanks loads

Explain a little more about"does not connect to board".

Does the case have "risers" on the mobo tray, or is the board flat on the tray?

Graphics card has no power connections
And yes risers were already on to mobo

(Sorry pretty new to this... Know what goes where but never built a PC before !! )
Thanks for being so patient! :)

Ok, at this point I would try 'reseting the cmos'. The easiest way to do this is to unplug the power (power supply to house electric), then remove the battery from the motherboard. Wait a few minutes and replace the battery(same way it was), then connect the power and reboot.

Ok ... tried that .. Still no joy Powers up - LED for HDD flashes on the goes off (Normal) Still no Beeps or Monitor.

Considering going back and restarting i.e Connect Motherboard power up - this time checking for beeps and then add drives one at a time?

Could this be that the motherboard isn't seated tight enough? Screwed screws until fairly tight but didn't over screw incase it damaged board.
Thanks again

Always good to recheck connections one at a time including RAM for proper insertion and that they are "clicked" in. Did you check the monitor cables -BOTH ENDS- and to make sure its plugged in and powered on. Even try another monitor to make sure thats not the problem.

Yep... attached monitor to laptop that works fine also.
Monitor cable tried both ways round no difference.

Living room has so many bits of PC floating round it, it could be PC World's spares store :D LMAO

Okay - gonna start again, could be gone a while!! I'll strip it right back and add everything one by one. Thanks for the RAM tip - hadn't resat that... may try that 1st.

Will update ya later... Thanks again :)

Thanx ... I'm gonna need it lol :o

Gonna get unscrewing and dissassembling again!! lol

Update ya later.. gtg or I'll ne'er do this.

Thanks again ;)

OK... nothing ventured nothing gained.

With Motherboard, RAM seated, attached to power and secured to case with screws and spacers I have no beeps... swopped red 'n' black speaker cable 'round, retried still no beep. Could be a broken speaker?

Located Graphics card, secured no beeps

Added HDD &FDD - no beeps

Added CD & DVD drives - no beeps

Stepping backwards... the pin connections that the power switch/reset HDD LED & Power LED sit on has one spare pin on each. If I move the connectors across one on the reset I lose the reset switch same with the power. Powered up without LED connectors that's ok. Still no beeps.

Going to install back into old case... give up on the cooling thing and just leave the door open until I cut the back of the desk out!! LOL

Will let ya'll know if it works back in the old case..

Thanks for all your help and advise.
You guys are absolute stars :D

I'll be back.

xxxxxxxxxx

Thank - you all sooooo much

Hi guys... Panic over.

I had a brainstorm whilst I was taking the motherboard out of the 'new' case.

I used the screws out of the old case to mount the motherboard in the new case, but I hadn't changed the spacers.

When I looked closer the mountings on the old case were stainless steel and brass on the new one... Change of screws... Attach power attach motherboard and power switch connections (No Hardware) ... powered up and Bingo ... beeep beeep morse code.

Attached hardware and all is now functional including the fans.

Thank you all sooo much for your help I can't believe that I was so stupid.

Book and Motherboard both say K7S8XE .. can't see a + Thanks for searching though Zero

Thanxs for all the advice and perseverance.

You lot are so amazingly helpful.:toast:

Take care ... I'll keep lookin' in and no doubt be calling on your skills again.

it could be the power supply test that then test the mobo by taking out the cpu and everything then turn it on if there are no beeps it might be the mobo as suggested....
