Help with IDE Controller

Hi so I have 3 of the Promise Ultra133 TX2 PCI IDE Controllers and I wanted to use them on my new 1155 mobo. I have inserted it in the mobo and on boot the mobo does recognize it. It recognizes my IDE HDDs. But how to I am I able to view it on the the desktop. I tried to go to device manager and the other thing to allocate the thing like how I did for my other 1tb SATA HDD but no luck. Please help. Sad to see all 9 of my IDE HDDs not going to be able to be used. I also tried to install the drivers winxp because no win7 support but it does not have a setup application. It has like wierd junk that I can't run.

Those controllers most likely do not have drivers for Windows 7.

Here are the drivers for Vista, they may work.

Go into device manager by right-clicking on My Computer and clicking Manage. Then click Device Manager.

You should see some Unknown Devices or some with yellow ?'s or red !'s. Right-click on one, click Update Driver Software. The wizard should guide you through, click "Browse my computer for driver software" then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". Click "Have Disk" and browse to the folder you extracted the driver to and select the .inf file. Ignore any errors it might bring up about it not being compatible or digitally signed. It should work.

You can try:

Download drivers, extract files, open control panel, open device manager, click on your PC (first icon), open Actions menu, select add legacy hardware, select choose hardware from list, select IDE controller, select have disk, select folder you extracted files to and hope it finds drivers to the device you want to install.

Should I put all my drives on slave? What if I want to use one of the drive as boot (OS).

Just set all the IDE drives to Cable Select. That way you don't have to worry about if they're set in the right mode or not. Also, I'd recommend the Vista driver over the xp driver, the newer one is more likely to be compatible since win7 and vista are similar.

to boot from one you'll need the driver disc that came with the controller cards, are download it onto a disc. if using xp to boot, you'll have to press the key to load 3rd party software when prompted at the bottom. win7 may see it during install, not sure though. still, might want to have the vista drivers on hand for that just in case.
