Help with MBR

I have been running Vista Home Premium 32-bit on my laptop since I got it. I decided to partition the drive and install linux on the partition. Tried Ubuntu, wouldn't work and so I went with Debian instead as the alternative. Well, long story short, I got fed up with Debian and wanted to switch back to a solo vista boot. I made the stupid, idiotic mistake of simply formatting the partition that debian was on to try and clear it off the drive because I couldn't find a way to simply "uninstall" it. Well, this left an entry on the Master Boot Record that Debian was still there and now I can't boot into anything. This is what the message look like when I boot now...

GRUB Loading stage1.5.

GRUB Loading, please wait...
Error 22

Is there anyway I can fix this without completely wiping the drive and starting with a fresh vista install? I really don't want to lose all my settings, files, etc...
Help? Please?

Boot from the Vista DVD and on the screen where you're prompted to "Install now", select "Repair your computer".

The next screen searches for Vista installations, there should only be one, so click Next.

This loads the System Recovery Options screen. Select the option Startup Repair. This looks for problems and automatically fixes them.

Then reboot.

EasyBCD is also a good tool for altering your Vista bootloader.

Already tried the Vista DVD and the "startup repair" option. It came up with no errors found. Is there anyway to use EasyBCD from dos? I can't even get into windows or anything else to try it on the laptop.

Have you tried booting from Vista dvd and at "Repair My Computer" click on "Command Prompt" and use the following

bootrec.exe /fixmbr
bootrec.exe /fixboot

Then restart.

See if that helps, sorry was not thinking EasyBCD is for windows.
