hi guys,
I recently got a Seagate barracuda 500gb hard drive.I installed it, its all conected it shows up in the bios and device manager but wont show up in my computer.Do i need to fromat it?If so how?running vista 36bit sp1

thxs

Run diskmgmt.msc. Does it show up?

Yeah, you need to format it to NTFS, I cant quite remember how to do it, but I used my winXP CD lolz, just started setup selected format the new HDD to install OS and restarted as soon as it finished.

I'm sure there's a much less longwinded way to to do it.

Try right-clicking My Computer, then clikc manage and go to storage, disk management, it should be recognised there but I don't think you can format it from there

i had the same issue use the guide mrw posted thats exactly what i done to get it to work

Cheers:toast: guys for the quick replys always helpful, I did what MrW gave me a link to do so alls good now.:)
