Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my 2 new Rosewill fans...

I got myself 2x 120mm fans to cool my radiator (for my coolit eco alc water cooler...)
And my plan was to control them via some software... But no matter what I do, I can't control the 2nd fan... I can only control the Fan that is plugged into the "CPU_FAN" slot on the motherboard...

In my mobo's manual, it says I can control my fan speeds if the fans are connected into either "CPU_FAN" "CH1_FAN" or "CH2_FAN"...

Obviously, my 2nd fan is connected to the CH1_FAN, yet no matter what I try it's RPMs won't change and I can't control it's speed...

Now I know I could just plug both the fans directly into the powersuppply using the molex... But I'd really like to be able to control my fans manually through software...

I'M TRYING TO avoid having to buy a "Fan controller"... So any of you have experience with this: PLZ HELP ! Thx in advance :O)

you cant control them with a software.
but you can by using the Q-fan feature from the BIOS. its there, all ASUS mobos have that.

you can set the lowest speed or starting voltage and also the starting temp.
you can also put in the temp for which the fan runs at max speed.

take pictures of the qfan menu for me if you want help.

i have seen a lot of qfan layouts, not sure which is yours.
BTW its generally in the hardware monitoring menu under power tab in the bios.

Or Asus Suite II if it works for your MoBo. I adjust my fans speeds with it.

This is how I enable SpeedFan controls on my Asus X58 Sabertooth board :

1. Go to configuration Advanced tab and choose your SuperIO chip

2. Choose controllers and put them to manual mode, use Remember it option.

3. Connect fans to board headers and see what happens when you use Speed controls.

ON my board using Speed01 controls Chassis 1,2 and 3 headers. All three headers run at same voltage so that gives three headers for 3-pin fans. Speed02 controls Cpu fan header and that one can only control 4-pin fans. Speed03 controls NB fan header with voltage so that's one more header good for 3-pin fans. All headers can put out 2 A or 7 A combined so there's hardly any need for fan controllers.

theres no manual option for my mobo :(

That name changes with SuperIO chips, on my old Gigabyte board that uses ITE chip instead of Winbond I would choose Software controlled option.

Well... I can control the CPU Fan via speedfan or any other software... it's just the CHA_1 fan which I can't control...

It says in the MOBO book that only the CPU fan and the CHA_1 fan can be controlled via Fan Xpert... but even when I set that CHA_1 fan to silent, or turbo, or standard... there are NO CHANGES in the RPMs @ all...

I'd connect Asus, I just looked at your manual and they do say very clearly that chassis fan headers can be controlled.

Yup I know... it sucks... Does it have to be a 4pin fan connector ?? cause mine's a 3 pin connector...

Only voltage control works with chassis fan headers of my Asus X58 boards so 3-pin fans are fine.
