As you can see, the AOC G-Menu software is asking for me to install the upgrade tool first, but I have looked all over their website, and the only software I can download is the G-Menu, so this confuses me... when I click install (as seen in the picture below) it does nothing, just wants me to install the upgrade tool first. Cable is connected from my PC to the monitor as is needed, and internet is working fine.

I did update the G-Menu software after I took this screenshot, it went from v3.21.00 to v3.28.00, and the firmware update option went away, the thing is it didn't install any firmware... it just updated G-Menu, also I can't even find where my firmware number is in the menu settings (g-menu or physical button navigating menu of the monitor itself).

Here is a picture of the issue I am having with my OLED monitor:

Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to run the latest firmware on my OLED monitor, model number is AOC AGON PRO AG276QZD2 (QD-OLED 3rd gen samsung panel)

Have you tried just clicking "install" to the right of the "you need this firmware update tool" dialog?

Yes, I mentioned this in my post already.

Sorry must have missed it. Late night + phone to blame lol.

The strange thing is, when I updated G-Menu to 3.28.0 the firmware option went away... so maybe it installed the firmware in the background? I saw on reddit people talking about what firmware there monitor was, what number, and I have looked everywhere and can not find it. So, I have no idea if it is updated or not to be honest.

AOC uses strange software. It's a great monitor and I love it, gaming on it is insane (tomb raider trilogy at 240 fps 240hz has been a blast on it), but yeah... just wish it was easier to know if my firmware is up to date or not. Rtings says April 8, 2025 they updated their review for this particular monitor with this latest 3.28.0 g-menu and they don't mention firmware at all, so maybe this monitor needs the g-menu installed to have the latest firmware, I have no idea. anyways yeah, if anyone ever figures it out, please let me know

and yes I have tried restarting the g-menu program with both auto update checked on and off, but that install firmware thing never shows back up. but if I uninstall g-menu and install older 3.21.0 g-menu software it shows up again, so that's why i think 3.28.0 just doesn't automatically install it... very annoying and confusing.

very annoying and confusing.
Sounds like it. I expect the gmenu software must be the firmware version but how vague that is is annoyingly bad.

i checked again just now under the latest 3.28 software. and now it is showing a firmware update available. going to try it soon. wth. its so fucking random, lmao honestly no issues with this monitor, but once this firmware is installed, im prob uninstalling g-menu for good, and set a reminder in my phone to check for firmware updates every 8 months or something.

never mind, now it says my firmware is up to date, but this is incrorrect. rtings even says the latest firmware number is either 200 or 201... and they tested the monitor under firmware 109...

so... lmao wtf AOC

Maybe a new hardware revision under the same model number that uses different firmware? Gigabyte and a few other manufacturers do that. Irritating but pretty standard to see it now sadly.

well it finally let me hit update firmware, so I did, then it gave me this error:

now it just says firmware up to date but stayed on v105, when should be v200 or v201 based on rtings review.

sigh. this is really fucking annoying. i mean its nice having OLED, but yeah. i only have like 12 hrs run time on this monitor so far, i may just sell it at a loss and go back to my IPS. i hate having to deal with this crap when i just want plug n play.

after that java error pops up, it just gets stuck here and makes no progress

monitor itself works fine and i have no issues with it, just would be nice to have the latest firmware is all since it is OLED and firmware improves a lot of stuff for OLED it seems like
