As the title suggest how bad is your upgrade itch?

After 6 years of not upgrading my rig my upgrade itch is getting worse... and i feel i am going to spend lots of money when i do get around to upgrading....
Only thing holding me back from purchasing is i have skipped 14th gen im going to skip Core Ultras... looking at 9800x3d... that is looking mighty tempting....

Sounds like a worthy upgrade :toast: better time than ever to make the jump to a decent 64GB or 96GB kit too

I have like, zero upgrade itch, ever since DCS began rapid fire shooting itself in the foot. Who knew that playing less graphically demanding games = kinder on the wallet

.........or maybe my PC upgrade itch just migrated to other things, lol

I'm upgrading. Money saved and in the bank. Where's my 5090 ASUS? My SAMSUNG DP 2.1 is waiting....
Upgrading from X670 EXTREME and 7950X, already Gen 5 maybe not, UNLESS I can get a 9950X3D...:pimp:
Maybe I should sell this old 5950X, Hero8 and 3090 in a NEW Case? Good luck!

I have a 4080 Super and no demanding games on the horizon. I don't feel any need to upgrade for at least a year or two.

My itch is zero. I have recently new hardware, so i can not justify any upgrades right now.

A bit, because I may be able to buy a decent am5 board for decent money (MSI x670e Gaming Plus Wifi), so I'm waiting for 9800x3d reviews and how the price of the 9600x will evolve.

Im always buying 1-2 gens back and higher tier components so I always get best bang for buck. you buy newest, you will pay a premium. always when I buy, Ill wait for sales like in christmas ,april tax returns, or black friday although BF has become more of a scam the last few years. they raise price 1 month before then do a "sale" so make sure to follow prices to see if its really a sale. I also love buying used components. many times ill buy used in mint condition with warranty left on the item. thats the best scenerio for buying used and paying the least.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest I would say my upgrade itch is about a 12 right now.

My main issue aside money, is that whenever i keep something for more than 2-3 years, and then i upgrade. I feel nostalgic about the "old" hardware and wish i have kept it a bit more. So whenever i upgrade it's a bitter-sweet thing for me :)

I would upgrade today, if there would be something worth it. My 12600K and 4070 are good for 1440p gaming.

Currently its minimal, sometimes I toy around with the idea of a new GPU but then I always realise that I'm more than fine with what I have currently for the games I'm mainly playing and in new more demanding games I don't mind tweaking my settings/and or use upscaling. 'I'm not a high refresh rate/fps gamer either'
That and even if I wanted to I can't afford it with my current job anyway. 'even a second hand 4070 Super would take me months of saving up at this rate..'
At some point maybe I would like to make the step to a 3440x1440 Ultrawide from my 2560x1080 but thats not happening anytime soon since that would require the new GPU so ye thats just an idea in my head.

Maybe in the second half of 2025 I will do some upgrades depending on various/many things but if I have to stick to what I have atm then thats also alright with me.:)

I'm on the verge of becoming a hitman to buy a LG OLED panel

Fortunately, I get to build decent stuff and use nice network equipment. I can live vicariously through clients, so it keeps my personal itch low.

If you scratch itches too often you get a rash and eventually even a scar. Scratching an itch only when its unbearable works better. Feels nice, too. The longer you wait, the greater the reward, too.

15% faster? 500 bucks? hell no... i'll take two.

Even if I had one it passes by itself when i remember the new GPU Price/Performance ratio.

Past 3 years I ditched kinda new hardware.

It annoys me or does not work - I ditch it. I had five different graphic cards in 2023 in use.
My Ryzen 5800X / B550 mainboard / Radeon 6600XT annoyed me so I ditched it after ~1.5 years. I several times changed my DDR4 RAM of that box. I also tested different processors with that b550 mainboard over several months each.

I think I would keep it longer when the quality of certain products, software and firmware would be adequate.

When AMD, Intel, Nvidia, etc., offer something worthy of "itchiness" then I will scratch it

No real upgrade itch right now to be honest for me. Really all I wish I could get at the moment is a high end 4K gaming monitor for my desk (I have a good enough monitor on my sim racing rig). My PC is already very good so unless something new releases that's itch worthy as dirtyferret said right above this post, that's it for me.

Did all my upgrading last year, so no itch at the moment and no money for no any upgrades either for that matter...

Remember when you was broke and struggled to pay your brother back for the $1100 computer he built you and you kept downloading crap off the internet and crashing Win98 and then having to reformat and reinstall Windows? I had to learn, old school. Now I'm old and burning through my Pension and begging for a video card that doesn't exist. Yet. One of these days my DCS Flight Sim will be perfect.
Then there will probably be a funeral! MINE!!:peace:

Lol, that helps curb the itch too. I built my new rig not long ago, so my wife and daughter are ahead of me in the upgrade line also. Christmas laptops for them, and i get to pay the bill for remodeling the bathroom.

Crazy, I plan on getting a new to me card this year. I was waiting till the new generation then getting a used RX 6950 or 7900 XT/XTX depending on deals. I have a waterblock for a 6950 that I got for super cheap so I will probably do that.

I guess i am now in that "middle ages" of my life where upgrade fever is not as strong as before so even if I am on relatively older platform(X299/7940x) I have zero Itch to get something newer I added a lot of ram 192Gb in total and RX 6900XT as my main GPU and for things that I am doing on this RIG it's more than good to keep me calm and satisfied for a while.....

Scratched my upgrade itch while steadfastly holding on to the AM4 platform, bought an R7 5700X3D earlier this year, to replace my R9 5900X which went into a 2nd AM4 build from some spare parts I had lying around. Plus a few new parts (like mobo, 32GB DDR4 3600 RAM, a couple of NVMe M.2 drives and a SATA SSD) and I was all set....no plans to go with an AM5 setup anytime soon.

Anyway, my rigs are capable of handling newer games with good framerate and High to Max in-game graphics setting, I'm happy, besides, I I'd only consider a newer setup/upgrades only IF the games I'm keen on in the future pique my interest to wanna upgrade. Right now, and for the immediate future, my rigs can handle games pretty well, so no itch on my part! :D
