Yesterday while working in my computer, my system suddenly stopped responding.. I thought it was some virus issue. I am having problem with my drive. Even after formatting the drive, my computer is not working. Can anyone help??

System specs please?
Reinstall Windows
Get an SSD
More RAM
HDD faulty
Virused to hell
Migrants living in your PC

Many possibilities without specific details :D

you might be looking at a new drive...

I am using ACER laptop. The specifications are:
Up to 2 GB of DDR3 onboard system memory with a dual-core processor having Windows XP.
I hope it can help you in resolving my query.

Don't run XP and give it some more memory would be a good start for just about any use.

If it's "virused" then just reformat the machine. It will probably take you less time than trying to undo all the damage. Plus, you should ditch XP anyways.

Your request is a little vague considering we don't know what you're doing with it. Any recommendation on things to change or replace would be relative to what you use the laptop for.

take it to a professional. one needs quite some bit of knowledge to fiddle with laptops.

test your hdd first, check if your laptop infected or not, disable some service or apps that you dont need.

Since no one seems to have actually read what you originally posted.....
I assume the laptop is fairly old. It seems like the HDD died and you need to replace it. I, like others, suggest it is time for a new laptop altogether. Alternatively your RAM could have gone bad as well and you may want to try it with 1 stick at a time to see if it will respond. If it does, then one of the sticks is bad and you need to replace it. If there is only one stick, going with dual channeled RAM around 4 GB would speed it up nicely.

Shoot it out of a cannon? Launch out of a sling shot? Attach to a dragster?

Seriously the only thing that would make it slightly snappier for office use would be a SSD and maybe 4GB of ram if it supports it.

windows xp?

Sounds like it's time for a new laptop. (if it's used for business)

Sounds like a netbook.
Get a new drive, or a whole new computer. Preferably not a netbook/nettop. Those two types of computer aren't thought-out for speed.

like a bunch of children......
